Magic wax coat

My parents just bought a brand new hyundai tuscon yesterday and they were really happy about thia new produxt they heard about for 400 that will be loke a spray on the entire car that is like a wax. Everything will bead off and it will never stain. Then the funny part they say you will never need to wash the car as the dirt falls off. They also say it has a 5 year warranty. I have no idea what is actually included in the warranty though. Is this as much bullcrap as i think it is?

Yep. It's as much BS as you think it is, possibly even more than you think.

Is that even possible in a Hyundai Tuscon?

It's snake oil dude, take a pass on it.

The dealers don't do coatings. They just use sealants. What the dealers sales is the same thing as going to Walmart and buying a paint sealant off the shelf. There are coatings available that do everything that the dealers preach about. And they are not nearly $400, but they do really last a lifetime on the paint where you don't have to wax it. Let the rants begin.

The closest thing to that would be Optimum's Opti-Coat, which is a permanent ceramic-resinated coating that acts almost as an additional layer of clearcoat. It's got wildly insane water beading and dirt-repelling ability and it lasts forever, and hardly anything sticks to it including waxes. Thing is, it's very risky to apply, and considering how incompetent dealers usually are when it comes to detailing cares, I have a good feeling Opti-Coat is not what they're ferring to.
