FROM THE NY AUTO SHOW

From NY Auto show. Impressions of the Camaro. One word - GREAT! Fit and finish top shelf. Interior is very well done. Leather seats are perforated, soft and comfortable Plenty of front seat leg and head room (sat in sunroof cars). As previously written by others, back seat is small. The cars I sat in - an LT2 RS the other SS. Hoods did not open, so no comments or pix. As we all know the trunk openning is small but it extends pretty far forward. The gaps at doors , hood, trunk are perfect, surfaces match up perfectly, no "high" or "low" spots. Paint is perfect, no hint of orange peal. Speaking of orange although I didn't order it, it is fantastic - just the right amount of metallic in it.
I'm really critical and spent as much time as I could considering the crowds inspecting under the dash, under the seats, under the car - it is as good as the exterior. At the show we had the opportunity to compare it to not only the Chally and Mustang (no comparison) but to Mercedes, Lexus, Porsche and the fit/finish is comparable. I'm not sure where the criticism of the interior comes from. I liked it. My son who can find fault with a saint walked away saying "hey that's a nice car". Now that's an endorsement. One problem though, a lot of people who walked past the rear of it had to run their hands along the rear quarter panel, like they were rubbing Ja-Lo's ass!
Largest crowds were at the Camaro. GM nailed it guys, we picked a winner!

Yes I know, useless without pix, I'll get them up asap! UPDATE: the pix are posted in the Camaro Photos,Media, Pictures section of the forum NY Autoshow Pix

I'm not sure I would go so far as to say that it rivals the interior in a Lexus or Mercedes, especially when it comes to materials but I do agree that the interior is very nice looking.

Not saying the materials are comparable to those mentioned but the fit and finish (lack of gaps, tightness of parts put on the body, side window seals, underside of dash, seams in the seats) IS comparable. I couldn't find fault with any of that and I was impressed with the materials...

There were three in the main section, two you could sit in (one Vitory Red, One IOM), one on a pedestal (Silver), and you couldn't touch it. There was a second section where the "Transformer" and a another (yellow) was but it was too crowded to get near (mostly families with kids).

That's cool, I'm going to tomorrow. I just wish they had ABM, I really wanted to see it in person on the Camaro, but I can't wait to see the IOM and the VR and SIM as well. I've never seen the car in person.

Met up with several of our Camaro/Firebird Faithful at Javits center this morning......(three of them were 'disciples' ..)

I had a 2SS in Silver inside one of the carriers for use by various members of the media --

......so WHY NOT GO HAVE SOME FUN???.......

I pulled up to the front doors of Javits and you'd have thought a major celebrity had pulled up -- (well....I guess the 5th gen IS a celebrity, no???)

reactions -- even in Manhattan -- never cease to amaze me.........

....was driving down Broadway with a couple of peeps in the car -- lotsa people pulling out camera phones........lotsa 'double-takes' - -lotsa jaws dropping.......

........a Red Silverado pulls up alongside -- yells: " ...how much dollars is it for being????"

......a 'foreign' taxi starts blowing it's horn (WHY do japanese horns sound so stupid, anyway???) -- and of course after about the 6th time I let loose with a string of --uh -- shall we call them 'oaths' -- which would have made a sailor blush -- only to find out he was trying to take pictures of it......

........on 46th street on "Restaurant Row" -- a parking lot attendant yells -- "show us that it's a REAL Camaro -- SMOKE 'EM!...."

....we would pull up to the curb at Javits for one driver to get out and another to get in -- and people all over the sidewalk coming up to the Camaro to take pics.

Silver looks KILLER on a cloudy day in an urban environment --

Always one in every crowd...
Kept asking for you today, but they said, "I know he's around somewhere..."
The folks at the GM stands were a great group of knowledgeable people, friendly and very easy to talk to.
Please let them know they make a good impression.
Sorry I missed you today, but maybe someday.
After finally getting to see, feel, smell the car in person, I'm more convinced than ever, it is the right car at the right time....!
