2000 SS
any advice on what to use for upgrading the air intake on my ss auto camaro?

Just get an slp lid. And if you have a 98-00 replace the stock ls1 manifold with a LS6. Or what I have. The BBK. After the manifold swap the difference was night n day

I like the FTP lid, which is the one I ended up with (after 2 others) on my 02. Not a big difference performance wise between lids, it's mainly just looks and fitment. I started with an SLP lid, and it felt really solid and probably looked the best from a build quality standpoint, but it fit like shit. I replaced that with a TSP lid that fit much, much better.
When I put on my FAST 90/90, I swapped the TSP lid for one from FTP, because you can get the FTP lids in sizes larger than stock to match the FAST 90 or 102 and a larger MAF (though I removed the MAF and was running a speed density tune). Both fitment and quality were very good with the FTP, as well as the TSP lid.

Did you do the free 'ram-air'mod to the airbox? If not, I'll be doing it this week to my car, so I'll take pics and post instructions.

Oh! FTP also makes a ram air kit, which is basically just ducting that runs from in front of the air deflector up to the bottom of the lid (basically where you remove the material for the "free ram air" mod). I had that as well, and would definitely recommend it if you want to do a bit better than just cutting out the plastic under the lid. You'll find out how well it works the first time you have to pull a stray shopping bag out from under the air filter.

Bluetorp, agreed. I'm on a very limited budget (happens when you are married with 2 kids and the wife is a stay at home Mom), so I have to be picky what I spend money on.
km9v, as far as I know, the stock lid. I'm not sure if an SLP lid was an option or not on the SS cars.

I picked mine up used for about $50 off the For Sale forum at LS1Tech. Good way to save money in general- you can find some really good deals there.
