Question about the Camaro and child seats?

I am thinking of trading my '08 Malibu in on a new Camaro, but my wife and I have a new born (2 months old now), and I was wondering if any of you have children and have any issues getting a child seat in the back?

My wife is hesitant because she thinks it will be hard to get the seat in and out of the back and I was wondering if any of you have any first hand experience? Our daughter is in a rear facing seat right now, and I know in my Malibu I have to put it in the middle, and the Camaro dosent have a middle. Thanks ahead for any input!!

you CAN fit one in the back seat... but you will have to put the front seat all the way forward. so i hope your wife is short or at least has short legs!

I wouldn't recommend the camaro with a rear facing child seat. Front facing is no problem. It'll be tough for your wife either way, imo.

My wife is short, about 5 ft, when i get some free time I was thinking of taking the child seat to see if it would fit, but I was curious about peoples experience with it. I should say also that we bought a Mazda CX-9 that we use when go places together, so 90% of the time when my daughter is in the car with me, it is just her and I.

I've had a front facing one in mine before, no problems, not sure about rear facing.

in that case, you should be fine. It's not permanent. I had a corolla when my daughter was born. Right when she was big enough to have a front facing seat, i traded in for the camaro. lol good luck.

If we only had one vehicle it wouldn't be a Camaro.

Front facing our Britax Marathon fits great, but daily running around and his first year of rear facing is what the SUV is for, haha.

I tried 3 different rear facing seats.... FORGET it! Its just not gonna happen. I got one to actually fit back there, but you wouldnt be able to get the kid out of the seat without crawling in the back seat to get em.

Front facing is no problemo!

I also traded an '08 Malibu in for my Camaro. I don't see why you would have to have the car seat in the middle, other than the fact that maybe the passenger wanted their seat all the way back???

I would highly reccomend keeping your Malibu until your child is in a front facing car seat. My boys are 4 and 6 and have no problems sitting in the back on booster seats.

I have the rear facing seat on the back passenger side. It's a Graco.

Yes, the front seat has to be all the way forward. With the Graco there's a mount and a detachable seat. As long as you put the kid in the seat first, then the seat in the car, it's really no problem (once in a while, not every day).

You CAN put a seat in the middle by using the LATCH anchors -- hook one on the right side anchor of the left seat, the other on the left side anchor of the right seat.

We're talking about a year of less, because once they're a year old or 40 lbs, you can turn the seat front-facing.

I hope this helps...

Unfortunately, I would not recommend a Camaro if you plan on putting car seats in it. I had to do it once and it was a pain in the A$$!! When I bought the Camaro, my wife said where are the car seats going to go? I answered "exactly, there not going anywhere."

I have been doing it for 12 months no issues what so ever.

I have a forward facing child seat behind me and the rear facing infant seat behind the passenger seat (the passenger seat is one notch from the very end) I pull the rear facing seat in and out daily my commute is 90 miles R/T M-F no issues at all.

Daily driver 27.8k on the clock with two child seats in the back for the 1st 12 months I had a forward faving seat and a rear facing seat in the car no issues and my wife could ride in the passenger seat no issues (5' 7" 125lbs)

Do not let a child seat stop you from owning a Camaro

We've had no issues with car seats fitting into Camaros or Corvettes over the years. In fact, I took my one daughter to her first pediatric appt. in my GTA. Her little head rocking with the cam lobes thundering

Newer cars are easy with auto airbag cutoffs. Mid-90s cars didn't have this for front seats
