Best extended warranty - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I am getting ready to by a very low mile 2010 SS, and I am trying to figure out where to purchase an extended warranty that will give the most value and coverage (for a 2nd owner).

My factory basic warranty will expire with in a year. I already tried my insurance company, but they wouldnt do it, and their warranty didnt sound very good to me.

Would I be best served to just contact my local GM dealer?

P.S. I am not looking for a service plan, just coverage.

Yes, GM dealer only. I wouldn't use any other than a GMPP, no question, don't even think about anything else.

No longer GMPP its ALLY Financial...
Many other out there that cover jsut as much if not more! Factory Extendeds are good but compare ACTUAL coverages and prices and you will find many better.

they must have just changed because i bought mine last month and it was GMPP

Would you mind telling me some examples? All I seem to find on the internet seem shady to me. I am too cautious to buy anything that is not tried and true.

Thanks for letting me know about the Ally. Haven't bought new car since the change.

When buying the insurance do look into if you have to pay first & they reimburse you. With the GM (Ally) insurance it goes direct, you don't pay upfront. Also ask your servicing dealer if they have experience with that insurance carrier.

Personally I wouldn't risk it for a few pennies. Also, you can shop rates with GM dealers. Just like car parts, the cost will vary.

I bought a different insurance ONE TIME only, never again.

Thank you for the advice, it sounds like you have alot of experience with this.

So if I buy one from a local GM ally dealer, will that cover me at any licensed GM service center?

GMAC Credit is now Ally Financial. GMPP is still offered by GM Insurance Holdings, Inc. See http://www.gmprotectionplan.com/ for details.

You can buy a GMPP from any dealer, including ones out of state selling plans on the internet. Same plans.

The cheapest (by far) that I have found is gmoutlet.com.

I searched the internet for the cheapest price for my extended warranty then took it to my local dealer and they matched the price

GMPP is good....had it before w/ no issues. $100 deductible / bumper to bumper.

If your car is over 1 year old and more that 12000 miles from the in service date, you will pay a higher rate for the warrenty going thru gmpp. I got mine at gmoutlet.com, check them out.

Edit: never mind..went to site..can add 36months 36,000 to my Sierra 4wd for about 1,000. Much less than local dealer. Hmmm
