Time period after "shipped"

My car was "shipped", it's the third stage of shipping, which means it's probably on it's way here. Who know's how long it usually take to get from where the cars are made to California?

Hard to say. I live in MA which is closer to Oshawa (manufacturing plant) and I've seen members get their cars in 9-15 days that live in New England. Your car isn't directly shipped to your dealer, they are shipped to a central location, then the car transport trucks from various dealers pick them up. For example, I ordered my car from Bill Deluca Chevrolet in Haverhill, MA, but the railcar will unload it half way across the state in West Brookefield and await the transport truck which could take anywhere from a day to a week.

Interesting, could you do the same analysis for transportation to Haverhill, MA?

Congrats and THANKS for that route map! If you're like I am, you have instructed the dealer to not touch the car. If so, what did it look like after having taken such a long cross country "winter" trip? Was it really dirty?? Any transport damage of any kind?

TIA,

Jim

Jim, These were my five requests to the dealer:

1. Please notify me immediately on the car’s arrival.
2. Please do not drive the vehicle other than for quality control purposes.
3. Please keep all documentation that comes with the car.
4. Please do not add any dealership stickers/plaques to the car (license plate is ok).
5. Please do not clean the exterior of the vehicle. I want to avoid any chance of swirl marks in the paint.

Unfortunately the car did arrive very dirty and the dealer was unable to abide to my request number 5), stating that it was necessary for them to wash the car to verify there are no imperfections in the paint. I wasn't able to get to the car until later that day and by that time there was a small amount of dust/dirt that had accumulated on the car since it was washed. It was difficult to see what the paint really looked like. I drove the car home and carefully washed the car myself. Guess what - I found a small scratch in the paint behind the passenger door. I called the dealer, they told me to bring the car in and they would look at it. We'll see what happens...

- Jim

Thanks for the update Jim!
I sure hope that the scratch is small and can be fixed without requiring it to be repainted! Sometimes it's only in the clear coat and can be carefully buffed out.
Like you, I instructed my salesman to notify me immediately upon delivery and to keep the detailers away! I ordered Summit white because I'm so paranoid about swirl marks in the clear coat! He knows that I will not be signing any dotted line until I have completely inspected the exterior and interior. Even if that passes my inspection, I will test drive to insure the wheel balance and alignment are OK. Then it's off to the gas pump with their gas card for a full tank of 91 octane. I really don't expect all that to go down smoothly and if not, I'll walk away and wait until spring. Heck, up here in snow country, won't be able to drive much anyway. Oh well.........

When you called the Pacific Union Number, did it tell you - Load - Origin Oshawa Canada... Until it actually moved again>?
