Just got off phone with GM Marketing in TX

Here is what she said:
Generally they are quoting a 6-8 week delivery from time of order when people call. BUT, they decided to slow down shipment because they are re-inspecting all cars to make sure they are quality. She said they have not been given what that delay will be but she could guess 8-10 weeks is a better estimate on delivery from time of order. I am not sure if this time-frame is only for people that ordered with dealers who still had initial allocation slots left or not.
She said Summit white should be available June 2009 but no other constraints exist.
The website will have the new pricing up within a week she thinks (I informed her it was slow on the price increase-uptake).

She also confirmed the price increases from 4/1 but that was not in question...

So that is that. Take it for what its worth, but that is what she said.

I would imagine that its 8-10 weeks from when the order is accepted by GM, not placed at the dealer.

Just got this response....

(and I agree with the above comment)

Quote:
Dear Mr. ______,

Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and for your interest in the 2010 Camaro! We appreciate the time you have taken to write us. We are sending this e-mail as a follow-up to a phone conversation that we had.

As with many new product launches, our highest priority at GM is to ensure our products meet the highest quality levels; the Camaro is no exception. In our pursuit to exceed our high quality measurements, we have had to slow down the Camaro shipping process. This slow down is resulting in missed transit times for the Camaro. This is a temporary issue as each vehicle being produced is inspected and re-inspected.

Vehicles generally begin arriving at dealers about 6 to 8 weeks after they begin production. We apologize, but we are unable to provide you with a specific time frame for delivery. The exterior color Inferno Orange Metallic is now available as an additional charge color and the destination charge is now $795.00 as of April 1, 2009. The new vehicle sales manager at your dealership is in the best position to advise a more specific time frame for delivery and product information on the new 2010 Camaro. To locate other dealerships in your area, please visit http://www.chevrolet.com/.

At Chevrolet, we strive to provide exceptional customer service. If we can be of any further assistance please email us or call 1-800-950-2438 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. E.S.T., Monday thru Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. E.S.T., Saturday.. Thank you for contacting Chevrolet.

Sincerely,

The Chevrolet Marketing Team

FYI I was really impressed with how nice they were on the phone. They probably get calls like this all day long.

More than likely she has no idea what she is talking about.

Every dealer's allocation is different and there's no way to tell how many or when any particular car is going to be built.

You know... I'm hearing so many things... one is that they are holding cars in Detroit so they can ship to dealers nationwide for their May 6th unveil... Though that doesnt make sense because some have been delivered to dealerships in the midwest like the yellow SS in Indianapolis yesterday...

Hell... even the GM rep I spoke with at their 1800 number told me my car hasn't been built yet when I have my dealer print out with my vin and order status from the second week of production! wth?

At this point it almost goes without saying that any GM rep that you are able to speak to on the phone doesn't know what they are talking about when it comes to the Camaro.

Ok well we know they are being inspected. There are pics of it and people freaking out about a little rain.

We also know the dealership has to do the same.

So nothing new here.. sorry.
