Question I'm ready to Order... Now What?

So I've been wanting the new Camaro since the concept was unveiled (who hasn't?), been a regular on this site and others learning all about it for some time, dealt with being laid off and looking for a new job to fund my purchase... But all that's behind me now and I'm ready to Order.

The problem is, I'm confused with all this talk of pre-orders, regular orders, allotments, price gouging, ordering from another dealer and having it drop-shipped, workbench sheets, order numbers, etc.

What do I need to do, what questions do I need to ask, and I what do I need to have to make sure that I'm not getting taken advantage of (as I've heard is unfortantely happening)?

Since you can't "pre-order" anymore (March 15 was the deadline), just find a dealer in your area that is willing to submit your order for MSRP or below. Try to find a dealer that will accept a refundable deposit if possible just incase things don't work out (note: this is not an easy task, I couldn't find any in my area). You should expect to put down $500 - $1000 for a deposit, and like I said, hopefully it is refundable. Either way, if you are committed to the purchase, put down your deposit, get a GM Workbench printout from your dealer confirming your 6-digit order number. Then sit back, be patient, and be ready for a possibly long wait. Good Luck...

You may have to go out of your immediate area to find a cooperative dealer. I believe the Koons dealers are doing MSRP. Ourisman Rockmont Chevy in Rockville, MD is and only wants a $500 refundable deposit. I think someone posted the Richmond area dealers aren't being cooperative. The big decisions are color and V6 or V8, there are pluses to both. Good Luck.

Just to add on to this, make sure that you get everything in writing, MSRP pricing, refundable deposit. Good luck!

Koon's told me $5K over MSRP for the V6, $10K over for the SS; so they are a no go...

CamaroPete shared some Dealers with me in the area and I'll check out those mentioned in MD too, I just want to make sure I'm asking the right questions (and getting the right answers!). Since I'm new in the area, I don't have any dealers I "Trust".

I have decided I want the 2SS/RS, just still unsure of the color. I'm leaning towards CGM, but I'd love to see a picture of one when they finally start production on them. Of course that probably means I'd have to wait longer, doesn't it?

Interesting. I emailed the one in White Marsh, MD and they were MSRP. However, the Ourisman in Bowie, MD wanted 'market price', but wouldn't say exactly what that was. Rockmont Chevy, another Ourisman location where I ordered, is MSRP. I mentioned this and was told it was a store manager decision.

CGM is on contraint, hopefully for just another few weeks, but I would have a backup color in mind. You can change stuff after you order, up to a point, I think when they broadcast your order. I've seen the CGM on other cars and it looks great in the light. I'm getting RJT w/tan leather to match my other car.

i would personally go thru the your dealer is an idiot threads and find out if some dealers in your area are in there and if they are AVOID them. Then go in there and im sure if you put a maybe $500 deposit they can maybe get you a spot but dont' get your hopes up too much because you will wait till late this year to recieve the car.

Hi there!

I just placed my order today. They took a $1000 deposit- (that was the minimum amount) and printed me the window sticker, did my credit application- put everything in writing including what they will give me for my trade. My dealer told me that the order will offically go in next tuesday- I was too late for it today.

Now I'm waiting to hear back from them with the rest of the info.

I'm the future owner of a Camaro!!

2LT/RS Cyber Gray Metallic

Good Luck with your order!!
