Instant fuel economy in the driver information center

Greetings.

I will be using my ZL1 as a daily commuter to work when the weather is nice. To that end, I intend to hypermile the living daylights out of it, partly because 100 octane gasoline is ridiculously expensive in Europe, and partly because I particularly enjoy the challenge of hypermiling a gas guzzling V8. It's a perverse hobby of mine.

To hypermile effectively, I require real time telemetry. Unfortunately the ZL1 does not provide it (resetting the average fuel economy is not practical in that context).

To that end, I did some "digging" and found this video:

this video appears to depict a custom firmware running, rather than a "Dashcontrol" OBD-II style module (although there is no definitive evidence to the contrary).

• Does anyone know how this was done?
• Is the firmware available anywhere and if so, where?
• Is there any documentation on creating one's own firmware for the driver information center and the center console touch screen display?
• Is there any source code available?
• Are there hardware or software specifications on how to write the firmware for the driver information center and "MyLink", and if so, where?
