Whipple/Maggie L99 owners in CA - anyone using the box tune?

Hi - I posted a related thread in the Forced Induction section but wanted to ask if anyone in CA had used the canned tunes that come with these 2 kits.

If so, how is (or was) your experience with it on the L99 auto? Any problems?

Thanks!

I'm getting a Lysholm installed this month and will be using the box tune for the foreseeable future. I only comment because the Lysholm is a twin screw similar to a whipple. But I have an LS3, so this post probably isn't helpful at all.

Thanks Monstertodd.

No one else in CA is running a box tune? Just want to make sure it drives well and is reliable. Not looking for max power right now. I'm pretty much set on going with the Whipple or Maggie at this point.

Did you decide if you're going with the SLP package?

They weren't willing to warranty my camaro since I was over 10k miles. They wouldn't make an exception even though I'm only at 14k.

How'd your install go?

That sucks, but I guess rules are rules...The dealer started on my SC install on Tuesday and I spoke with the service manager Thursday to see how it was going, and he said his master tech is really enjoying doing the install, even though it's very tedious. I was looking at the instructions, and there's like 195 steps! So I certainly don't want to rush them. He mentioned that a few people had called about purchasing a supercharged Camaro from them, since they must've seen my posts here and he's setting up with SLP to start doing them, so he was pretty stoked that I turned them onto to SLP and expanding their business. He even said he'd discount my install even more than previously quoted, because of what I've done for them and basically letting my car be the prototype. All in all, I'm extremely happy with the service from SLP, Paso Robles Chevy, Granatelli Motorsports, 3dCarbon, Apex Motorsports & MPD1, all places that have really taken care of me with product, pricing & service!

Another bummer about the Lysholm is that while they do offer a 36 mo warranty, it starts from the original in service date of the car, not when the charger is installed.

So far from what I've seen, Edlebrock, Magnuson, and Whipple have the best warranty options.

edelbrock box tune is actually pretty, a little conservative but it should be, never seen the whipple tune, every car i have gotten i just build a base from scratch... the magnuson tune isnt bad but the injector scaling is a little off in my opinion but they make it work, i generally scale injectors correctly and go from there.... all of the box tunes seem to work just fine, and perform but they leave somethings on the table because its a generic tune
