Wife hit the neighbors mailbox

Like the heading says. My wife called me hysterical the other day when i was at work. 2 of our dogs ran out of the house and she took off after them in her Aqua blue 2010. She gets the dogs in the car and was so pissed at the dogs she lost her orientation of where the car was while backing out of our neighbors driveway and WHAM. At least his mailbox was plastic and not a metal one.

Here's the pic i took of it when i got home. The dent is right on the body line on the drivers front fender. Sorry about the picture quality; it was getting dark.

Ouch. Glad the dogs are safe though. I don't think that's gonna be fixed with the dent wizard...It's right on a body line and those are extremely tough to get out. But it's always worth a shot, and if it doesn't work, you'll end up replacing the fender anyhow.

PDR should take care of that. Don't stress, happens to the best of us.

Why repair when you can replace?

OK I thought you were going to say she went after the kids...but since she was going to get the dogs back she has a good excuse.

I originally thought that Paintless Dent Repair would do the trick; until i saw where the dent was. We took the car to the shop that painted the stripes on that car and they looked closelt at it. There is a crack in the paint. That plus where the dent is makes it almost impossible to do PDR. The estimate we got was for $400. Which i guess is about right for fender removal, dent repair + paint, then re-installing the fender.
It does suck though, especially when my insurance deductible is $500.
Looks like i'm not even going to mention this to the insurance company.

I agree. I wouldnt trouble the ins co unless you want to risk a hike in premiums over small claim.

I would go thru my insurance Co. I would get the biggest estimate possible first and see it the body shop can maybe even throw in some extras in the deal. Pay your deductable and have the insurance pay the rest. You pay premiums for years so let the Insurance co. give back, that is unless you already a bad record for claims. If your record is clean let them pay. If they raise your premiums for one little claim then you need to dump them any way. If you have a good record they need you more than you need them.
