Average Fuel Economy

Just curious what everyone was getting as their average fuel economy. The best that I can seem to get is 21 mpg, and that is with driving very conservatively.

i think average MPG is only useful if you also post the corresponding MPH. if your average MPH is 60 then your average MPG is going to be much higher than if your average MPH is only 10.

my average MPH is about 23 (i reset each tank) and my average MPG is about 13.5 in my LS3. i don't have even 2,000 miles on my car yet though, so hopefully it will get better. i'm not too disappointed with 13.5 though actually. i live in the city and drive in very trafficky conditions almost 100% of the time, hence the 22 MPH average.

I'm interested in this, got into a discussion with two guys at work, one has a GT500 and other a Challenger, both claiming vastly better MPG.

Was just on long drive (3/4 tank) yesterday had 17MPG at 29MPH (most of drive around 70MPH).

I don't understand how you guys get 21mpg. I drive conservatively mainly city but still a fair amount of highway and I can't seem to get past12-14mpg.

Heavy city driving will kill your mpg in this car. Large engine and 2 ton car = gas hog in start and stop scenarios.

Getting right around 21mpg with average speed right around 29mph. I've been taking the car to work a bit more lately on dry days, so it sees a pretty good mix of both open freeway and heavy traffic. I'm happy, with only 4400 miles on the clock now--not bad for pretty much a new car.

like i said, we need to know average MPH too. you can't compare MPG only because everyone's driving conditions are different. average MPH is really the only thing that can make our comparisons closer. this is also something your DIC will display, just make sure to reset after you fill your tank.

OK, I see what everyone is saying. Just went out and checked my average speed and it was 42.0 mph. So 21.0 mpg @ 42.0 mph. From what ive read so far, that probably is about average. Just cant see how some people are getting 25+ mpg out of the LS3/L99. Thanks everyone!
