Chev under body protection coat?

need advice from experts. Will getting the under body protection coat be a good or bad idea for this type of vehicle(ZL1)? and what would be the pro/con?

Undercoatings are typically a waste of money as they don't help anything due to everything pretty much being galvanized etc...

Pro = ..... Haven't found one yet. Maybe prolong chassis life in heavy salted road areas?

Con = added weight
Con = Waste of money

As you are getting a ZL1, I'm assuming you will not be driving it in the winter, with that being said don't get undercoating. Its not necessary, its better to just keep it clean.

It depends on what climate you live in, and whether you will drive the car in the rain and snow.

I have used undercoating on all of my new cars, and it is a very good defender against corrosion. Contrary to popular belief, galvanized metal will eventually rust (as my '97 cavalier will surely attest). Rubberized undercoating's weight is negligible, so there isn't an added weight factor to consider.

The only con I can think of is that, if applied carelessly, undercoating could be a nuisance to mechanics when repair work under the car is being done to treated areas.

As a rule, I always undercoat a new car so that I will have optimal protection against corrosion, due to the northeast climate and the possibility of getting caught in rain and/or snow.

I believe that on a ZL1, with all the cooling tubing, exotic parts, etc and knowing how some shops just pray and spray, DON't DO IT!

I believe the undercoating would take away from the vehicles value as well.
