Okay what all do I need for a cam swap?

I cannot believe I am going to to do this but I'm finally looking to do a cam swap. I'm not sure when I will be able to afford it but I know I want it. I figure I should start stockpiling all of the parts 1 at a time so I can afford it.

Not sure if I will do a VVT cam or a full LS3 conversion so lets take both approaches and Part numbers would be AWESOME.

For VVT:
Same Lifters?
Etc
Etc
Etc

For LS3:

New Lifters? (Which ones are good?)
Etc
Etc
Etc

VVT will be the "BEST" way and make more power. LS3 conversion will be around $1,000 more or so. Good luck.

MEL-10295 LS3 Melling OEM OIL PUMP (1) OR MEL-10296 Hi-Volume O/P

No need to change out lifters. If you do, you'll need cylinder head gaskets as well. You will need a good on-vehicle valve-spring compressor, and balancer puller. Red and blue Loctite, silicone gasket maker, oil and filter.

And, of course, a tune.

Edit: Yeah...you'll need the LS3 conversion stuff first. Ignore my lifter comment above. You may also need a stall converter if you go with a lumpy cam.
