Warranty OR Mods??? opinions?

About to purchase a cam/headers/exhaust/tune....so I know my warranty (atleast powertrain), will be completely gone.

Do it, or dont do it?

I'd do it if I had the money to pay for repairs when things break but I don't so I stick with the warranty

The question should be, do you have the money available to cover repair expenses if something happens to your powertrain? If the answer is yes, and you don't care about the warranty, then MOD away!

I couldn't agree more. You have to pay to play. If you can't afford to pay, then don't play.

And trust me. The modding doesn't stop with just headers/cai/tune. It's like a virus, and it infects your brain. You find yourself constantly obsessing over what you want to do next. Especially, once you know that warranty is out the window...

IMHO, if you have the cash to play. DO IT! If you don't, be smart, keep the warranty. You can play in a few years.

This +1

I have the money, I just dont want to deal with any issues right now. As much as I would love to put that SC that I have sitting on my desk in the garage. I am waiting. For me its not just the money its the time too. Things alwaaaaays take longer for me to fix it on my dime.. .

Smart of you.

Personally, I don't feel the need to change my car THAT much; I like the warranty. Sure I've put on a CAI and exhaust and will do a couple other things to the engine, but I've made sure my dealer will still warranty her first.

Once the warranty is gone-- turbo time

The GM powertrain warranty is 100K, isn't it? By that time, you will have gotten beat by at least 30 or 40 5.0 Mustangs....mod and take your chances!

You'll regret it when something breaks.

I'm keeping my warranty and just going with a CAI, exhaust, and shorty headers if I can find some that work with the warranty.

For around $20k, you can forge/supercharge your own setup and be faster than the ZL-1. Thats engine work. Drivetrain/suspension is a few more dollars.

Most important though, is to go with someone you know you can trust. Do your homework.
