Anybody using a netbook to

Anybody using a netbook or something in their car for tune/monitoring different things? I'm going to b buying my trifecta tune soon (finally) and I don't have anything but a desktop so I need something. Was wondering what everyone else was using and if anyone had a recommendation/was trying to sell an old or used laptop or netbook I could buy just for use with my car..? Thanks!

I got a windows xp with intel atom, 160gb hd, 2gb ram, asus eee netbook on craigslist for 100 bucks strictly for data logging and for vince's tunes. I use scanxl to datalog on my netbook if I need to look at things more closely and use my aeroforce gauges to monitor in real time every time I get in my car. It's been doing wonders so far but had to replace the battery once for 30 bucks and had to also replace the ac adapter for 15 bucks so far.

I love my Toshiba Netbook. It really rocks. Maybe $250 for the latest version (NB505?). Worth every penny. I used it more than my full size laptop till I put it in the car.

My whole thing with this is I'm basically ONLY going to be using this for my car so do I really need that much or would one of those little netbooks work? I have a beast of a desktop computer already so I need something ONLY for my car.. :/ Broke college student btw, trying to save as much money as possible for other mods! lol and rent -.- screw food right now!

Must say you have a sweet set up there, maybe more than I could handle setting up, but I am still admiring.

maybe a little more than you need for the Trifecta tune, but still awesome

that depends on what type of cable you buy from trifecta. I believe the cheaper price is with the new red cable which is trifecta only. you can however purchase with tactrix cable which is basically a open port interface that can be used with other obd programs such as scanxl that I use. The gauges in my car are for real time monitoring and the scanxl is to datalog to my netbook. There are many good dataloggers on the market that come with their own cable to hook up to your netbook or laptop. HP tuners(logger version), EFI live(logger version), scanxl, autotap are all good dataloggers. You can use torque app for android to datalog also and it's probably the cheapest at only around 5 bucks but you will need a android phone and a bluetooth obd2 interface which you can purchase for around 20-30 bucks online or ebay.

ask away, help is only a type away, that's what this community forum is for right? unless I missed something LOL.

no you don't need a whole carputer but it is def sweet just get a cheap netbook or laptop that run windows and find a logger of your choice. You are set.

I want to do some datalogging to send to Vince, also (especially after installing the black ice-olator). Should I just get ScanXL and be done with it?
