Im starting to get a little pissed

So forgive this rant beforehand but heres my issue.

Im getting really sick of people always chiming on here saying how the LS3 is not built for boost, your engine is on borrowed time, ect ect.

Allow me to make my points!

1. There are dozens of guys on here that are pushing between 520WHP and 600WHP with thousands of miles on them and hey have not had an issue.

2. I dont know the last time I saw an "I blew up" thread started in this section, but over to the bolt on area and theres a guys who pumped up his tune with a cam and KABOOM every other week. People who spend the money and time on boost, spend the money and time to get a reliable kit with a decent tune, and for the most part they know their limits.

3. How they hell could SLP offer a 5 year 100,000 power train warranty on their ZL600 packages(500-520WHPish) the only engine mod being the heads (1:85 Aluminum Rocker Arms, High Lift Springs & Titanium Retainers) if the engine is mere miles away from giving up the ghost.
Come on people look around, do your research.

4. Lets not forget Hennessey and Lingenfelter 600BHP packages that include 3 year/36000 mile power train warrenties without the valve train work.

I have no fear putting my Turbonetics kit on my camaro MYSELF and having AMS do the tuning, and thats only if the canned tune is not going to get the job done.

Just my opinion guys, and Im no expert so my facts could be way off, but after my research, this is my conclusion so Im going to boost away and not worry about what any nay sayer says.

Ben

PS, I will be doing the valve train mod...

Pay no mind to the naysayers, for they don't know what they're talking about. If you want EXPERT insight as to what the limitations are on the LS3 with regard to forced induction, (like Livernois, Lingenfelter, Thomson, and Stenod) check out this link to see what EXPERTS have to say about the LS3 and how it responds to different levels of boost!

Sounds to me like you're a little worried about that Turbo kit you're installing...

9.87 @ 136.5mph, 1.47 60'.

Stock Bottom End, Stock Heads, ECS Blower cam, ECS Blower Kit, ECS Alky Control Kit, 4118lbs race weight...

We have hundreds of LS3 Camaros & Vette's that are making over 700rwhp, and we have a good handful that are 800+ rwhp, stock bottom, supercharged.

I would be more concerned with the piston from detonation. That is what I have seen take these LS3's out, a little too hot of a tune, not enough octane... BOOOOOM. We have a '03 LS1 that just broke the stock bottom end record again at 9.49 @ 144, he has 1500 passes on the motor, always using 100 octane + methanol at the track. Just for an example, and this is a 'weaker' LS1.

Yep, these LS3's are pretty weak

There are plenty of us that have been Racing our camaros with well over 600 RWHP for over a year. Not just Dynoing but Racing. Keep the detonation away and the revs modest and the LS3 can handle alot. Once you start getting up to the 700 hp Range you just got to understand that ALOT of things come into play. Im sure Matt will agree that once you get that high in hp(700+) and racing you already are prepared and know that you could blow an engine if something happens to go wrong. ( meth failure, bad gas, etc.. ) But like your saying 550 to 600 had been proven over and over to be fine on these engines.

Not sure what prompted this rant as I don't think I have ever seen anyone say they can't handle boost except that one guy that is always pimping forged engines.

What everyone DOES seem to say is that you need to be smart and make sure it has a good tune and don't push the boost too far....which is good advice.

I had over 70,000 miles on my engine that had 625rwhp and NUMEROUS Passes made and didn't have an issue!! A good tune will prevent a lot of failures!!
