Differential swap week old

It's now a week since I installed the diff swap offered from Erik at Lashway. The new diff came fully crated with free shipping both on receipt and for return of the original diff. My build included LTE 3.91 gears, pro bushings, heavy duty casing and billeted caps. Install took about 2.5 hours and my installer (Stage 1 in NJ) said this is a high quality product. So far 300 miles and the diff is quiet, shifting very smooth (Tune from Ted at Jannetty). Haven't done any track test yet, waiting for a 500 mile break in, but power surge on take off and even on the fly while doing parkway driving is really noticable. With swap and savings on install, this is not much more than cost of gears. No negative with mpg either, in fact seems to be slightly better.
Will update in the future.
Other mods are Airaid CAI, Kooks LT headers, Borla S axle back exhaust.
Supercharger down the road? Maybe!!!

Jim,

We're are more than pleased to hear that you're enjoying your new gears and diff with upgrades. Truth is, for the money, you cannot buy a stronger set up without going for a 9" or 12 bolt conversion. Sure those are awesome options, but for those who are on a budget, the caps, girdle and poly mounts really tighten up the stock diff.

Those those who would like more information, PM email or call us and we'll be happy to set you up! We also lowered our core deposit as we have several cores now we got for less than the first few!

Im glad to see some positive feedback on this. I am definitely going this route when the money comes together. (I just made my car a full bolt on, so funds have to build back up) I got a price quote from a local drive line shop and they quoted me $800 just in labor for a gear swap. So when all is said and done, this is a much more feasible option since they have true hands on experience with our differentials, and everything will be built right. I will be in touch Erik!

Erik,
I own a 2012 Camaro V6 W/auto transmission have anything to beef up the differential and make it a posi. I understand the differential is different from all the others 195mm ring gear is what I am told. I would love something posi with 3:73. I run nitrous and have a fun time on getting my one tire fire hooking up. :-) I think the Hammerhead diff swap for $7,000.00 is way to much for my application.
Thanks,
Rick

It is an excellent choice for those looking to reduce costs by installing the diff in your garage. The diff swap itself is relatively simple - so why not save some $! Of course, this isn't for everyone. If you have a QUALIFIED local shop, then by all means support your local businesses!

Just buy the parts from us haha.

Because there are so many upgrades and options, best bet is to head on over to our site, select your options, and disregard the core charge we apply since we are reusing your core. Just get it to us, we'll build it in a few days, and send it back ready to rip! If you still need specific info, or pricing, call or PM me.

Hi Rick,

Let me look into this a bit. Maybe we can get our hands on a V6 diff and see what we can design! Nothing we cannot build here.

I look forward to some feedback in the future. Thank you. With your help on the differential setup I'm looking to put your name out there when I make my first 12 second run. Ask the guys at NYTREX, I get the name out there and use social media to showcase what has got me to where I am. Youtube here we come again.

Erik,

Just curious would this be a good setup to use on a daily driver car with the occasional (and I mean extremely occasional) track day? I'm currently running a Lysholm 2.3 blower pushing 501 to the wheels and 548 lb ft. I'm thinking about doing this mod in conjunction with dss 1000 hp axles, and their 3.5" aluminum drive shaft. My goal is longevity, not necessarily quick 1/4 times. Would this be a good setup for my situation?

Good question, I'm going to be going with 3.90 gears as well...

With the blower, I would stick with 3.70's.

Any of the gear sets are strong, so ratio will not matter. I have seen more 4.10+ gear sets break over my years than anything simply because the ring gear teeth are thinner, but most breakage was a result of improper install!

I would go with an upgraded rear cover to keep the posi in place, and billet caps for even greater stability with that power.

We would be happy to set you up for a reliable rear!

Over 600 miles and the diff is excellent. Quiet, shifts very nicely in both drive and sport mode. Hit gas about 3/4 down the other day in sport mode and got rubber going into second gear. Had to let up since road was short and I hit 60 mph pretty quickly. Smooth highway ride as well. Mpg is about 0.3 better than stock with same driving patterns.

Cool! Just to follow up, the only thing I am finding right now for the V6 guys are the 3.55 gear sets from Richmond. I have yet to find an upgraded posi unit for those diffs. Maybe someone can chime in? I've really only had V8 guys want these diffs, so I am not as familiar with the V6 diff. I know they are different though.
