Street waving: Acceptable topic?
The “wave…” the knowing wave, the one that shows that we share a brotherhood (or a sisterhood!), an understanding. It comes in many forms, depends on the circumstance. Sometimes it’s an actual cupped- palm wave (especially when directed at the driver in rear- view mirror at a traffic light), sometimes it’s a two- finger peace sign, occasionally a thumbs- up (although somewhat dated, as ChiPs hasn’t had new episodes in a very long time), and even a salute works at times. Usually from inside the cabin, but sometimes an arm is extended out of the window. Whatever the case, the wave is issued as follows:
ALWAYS to: --- Yellow, hard- top Camaros (there’s no exception to this) ALMOST always to: --- Other C5s, any color, any top, any trim --- Yellow American muscle (although, yellow Corvettes no longer get “the wave,” as they do not respond in like) USUALLY to: --- C1-C4s --- Challengers --- Mustangs --- Older Vettes Occasionally to: --- Other yellow sports cars (Porsches, 370s, NSXs, etc.) --- My mom Last edited by Scalded Dog; 03-30-2012 at 10:54 AM. |

Yesterday afternoon, I waved to a guy driving a 1984 Regal, thing was clean, wire wheels all stock, he looked at me like I was crazy...kinda bummed me out
Yet last night I came up behind a 1LT all stock, temp tags also, she flashed her hazards, gave me a thumbs up out the window before she pulled off at her exit so that made up for it |

I wave at all camaros, doesnt matter what gen to me.
Ive had at least one of the last three gens so I like em all.

I drive an LS3 so my hands are usually too busy to wave or flash lights or whatever. I will sometimes nod and sometimes wave (if a hand is free) but never do I feel obligated to notice what others on the road are doing with respect to waving and such.
