Failing Ground Effect Adhesion

Two week old car (not even) - front ground effects were already installed and are now losing adhesion.

Improper install? Likely that adhesion on other pieces will begin to fail?

Obviously I'm bringing it back to the dealer - is there another more permanent method of install if I don't plan on ever removing them that I can suggest? Tape on a car is just asking for trouble and here's why..

Thanks for any help everyone.

I wanted to buy a Razzi ground effect package until I read that it had to be glued to the car. This was a huge turn off for the exact reason that you are experiencing now.

Welcome to GM GFX. It's why I took off the front GFX. Only have the sides and rear.

Mine started to come apart too, I bought a new bumper. I hear the new ones are mounted with screws?

This is a 2012 - unless you mean 2013's can't get much more new.

So you're not running fronts anymore either Vanquish?

I only have experience with the SS factory GFX which has a different front splitter....On the SS there are metal brackets in that location which are riveted to the front fascia and the splitter mounts to them. There are also 4 more rivets along the front. I would say its a bad install. The first time the dealer installed mine they did not use the four front rivets and my splitter folded under the car on the interstate and had to be replaced.

I'm going to go take a look for any missed bracket in that area - if not then it sounds like the tape is the designed install.

Nobody that has experienced this failure has come up with a permanent solution besides removing the front piece?

Yes, there is a permanent solution....The dealer needs to mount it properly. If mounted correctly with ALL the supplied brackets/rivets they will not do this.

I checked and it doesn't seem like there is a bracket in this area - I guess I misunderstood your message and thought it would be there and just wasn't used. This was a piece of the kit itself?

The install sheet I found - it seems like the brackets it mentions are mounted - but they aren't enough to keep the kit from separating from the bumper itself. I should note mine does have a bracket horizontal to the ground at the bottom of the kit. I was hoping there'd be more that they missed but it doesn't seem that way.

On the SS front splitter there is a rectangular mounting plate on each side that is attached to the fascia with two rivets. In addition to the tape there are also four rivets along the front.......but keep in mind that the V6 splitter is slightly different and may not use the same hardware. The bottom line is that when mounted properly with all the included hardware they will NOT do this.

Thanks for the help Fen - I can't see behind the splitter in my driveway - but regardless it's failing around the edges not the center (yet). I took a peek and it looks like there's bumper paint damage at one point too so taking it off isn't an option unless I want them to repaint it.

It almost seems like there should be a rivett or two on each side here that isn't there from these instructions.

Thanks for this post - I'm printing this out to bring with me.
