Quick Question About LS3/L99

What is the difference between the LS3 and The L99 and are they both available on the SS. Also what does CAI mean? I know these are rookie questions but if you can answer it thanks

The L99 is only in the automatic and goes from 8 to 4 cyl to save fuel when cruising.
The LS3 is only in the manual transmisson cars and is 8 cyl all the time.
CAI is cold air induction... basically a high performance air filter.

Probabbly more widely accepted as Cold Air Intake, not trying to be picky. I've just never once said to myself cold air induction. And it were trying to help this guy learn, well its a bit more than a high performance air filter.

If you were trying to help this guy learn you would tell him what CAI is then... and just because you've never said it to yourself, doesn't mean it's not the proper term. I didn't add the part about it usually moves the filter to an area that has cooler air than directly on top of the engine... the Camaro already has the filter off to the side where the air is cooler. He said that he's a rookie, I was trying to make it as simple as possible for him.

chill guys, chill...lol

the explanation of what CAI is what's most important for him to understand...but i've always said cold air intake too...but does it really matter whether you call it intake or induction IMHO? lol

and thats why its referred to as CAI (at least on the interwebz) rather than cold air intake/induction. Nobody will say that CAI is wrong/improper/not widely accepted.
