How much will the ZL1 be worth in 20 years

It's 2033. Gas powered cars no longer exist and very few samples of unmodified 2012/2013 ZL1s exist. How much do you think they are worth?

Its all a guess. Only the unmodified (mines out) low number ones have a chance at holding their value. Are we including inflation? ha

Supposedly a person in Iran has invented a time machine, maybe you can take a ride and find out.

To me it will still be priceless, but reality is I think the value will drop considerably. I truly hope that I'm wrong though.

I think another big influence to the price will be if they continue to make the ZL1.

Well, to borrow from a well known commercial...

2013: Camaro ZL1; $55,000
2033: Handing Camaro ZL1 Keys to grinning grandchild; priceless!

Also, remember that Hagerty has already named the '13 Convertible as a future classic collectible. Whether if it takes 20 or even 40 years to be called a "classic," it will definitely be worth a substantial amount of money in the future.

Who knows? I think it'll hold a good amount of value depending on mileage, any previous body damage and just overall condition. And also depends on the rarity of others. Life is too short to be worried about keeping them with low mileage and garage queening them.

I think since they came out with the 1LE, and Z28, they will probably repeat history and limit the ZL1 run.
Apparently the powers that be at GM are very nostalgic!
Then, just hold on, because it will not depreciate anymore!
Why not give the first guys that bought the high powered modern Camaro a bonus?

Well said Ricamaro!

I get pure enjoyment from taking my 3 kids (4,8,12) out to a car show or just driven. They all love the ZL1 but believe I need one in each of there favorite colors.
2012 Camaro ZL1 $$ doesn't matter...Having fun with the kids - Priceless!

Well i hope it isn't like my 92 Subaru SVX. Brand new you could get one for around $28 0r 29K loaded. You can get a used one now well under $5K.. I have just under 132K miles on mine. She's still running. Never thought it would be my now economy car compared to the ZL-1.... I get 19-26 MPG in the SVX, premium gas.. Oh well the wife's 2013 Sentra gets 30-39 MPG regular gas..

Very few Japanese cars ever become collectible. There are a few like the 240Z but it's very rare.

20 years ago is not a long time. I still have shoes from 1993. For perspective, in 1993 there were less than 450 Corvette ZR1's made.

Here's an article written by Bill Stephens, a well known author and motorsports commentator, about the 1990-1995 Corvette ZR-1.

Quote:
Buy This Car ... Before It's Too Late
By Bill Stephens

It’s a question I hear in my sleep. I can’t escape it. But, hey, it comes with the territory. When your job description, Expert Commentator, gives those who watch you on television the impression that you have the unassailable answer to this question, you hear it plenty. “What kind of car should I buy at the auction?” Obviously, there is no single correct answer. It all depends on a laundry list of wants, likes, concerns, conditions, and considerations—not to mention the price range—that only the potential buyer can determine.

However, all things considered, there is one automobile that periodically crosses the collector car auction block that is a genuine, lead-pipe, no wiggle room automotive investment that touches just about every base when it comes to desirability, collectability, performance, styling, significance, and affordability. The 1990-1995 Corvette ZR-1. If you were tracing the developments in the performance car marketplace in the late 1980’s, you’ll remember the seismic shockwave the 1990 ZR-1 touched off when Chevrolet announced it was going to be building the “ultimate Corvette” which was soon nicknamed “King of the Hill”.

When first released, it was the fastest Corvette ever built with its all-aluminum LT5, 5.7-liter engine constructed by Mercury Marine which could push it to 175+ MPH. The ZR-1 didn’t look dramatically different from regular production Corvettes—an upside or a downside depending on your viewpoint—but there was no argument that when it debuted, the ZR-1 was pricey, stickering for between $60,000-$70,000 when additional dealer markup was tacked on. But today, we see 1990-1995 ZR-1’s selling consistently for between $25,000-$30,000, and these Corvettes are usually in outstanding condition, have reasonably low Miles* , and are by and large unmodified.

In my opinion, one of the all-time great high performance sports cars is changing hands at a fraction of its original cost. But not forever.

Last year there was a 1993 Corvette ZR1 with 23k miles for sale. Asking price was $25,000 obo.

By now there are probably between 8000-9000 ZL1's that have rolled of the assembly line. I don't think anyone's going to get rich selling a 2012 or 2013 ZL1 in 2033, except perhaps Rick Hendrick; but he was already rich when he won the auction for his 2012 ZL1 #1. It is the only ZL1 ever produced in Carbon Flash Metallic and it sold at auction for $250,000.

On the bright side, in 2033, I might finally get my Jet Pack, so I won't have to walk from my Fusion-Powered Hover Car to my Smart-Eco Office.
