First time at the strips.
So me and Driyac met up to see what damage we could do at the local race way. Both of us had never raced before. I must say that this was definitely one of the greatest experiences of my life and I am sure he'd agree. We were both keeping it in the high 13s which I think is alright for beginners. I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't gave it a shot. It was definitely a blast and I will be back again soon.
This was just a test and tune so no one was actually racing. Except maybe me and Driyac lol. We had plenty of people complimenting our cars which was awesome. The announcer even complimented them over the loud speakers lol. It was great. I also met a pretty cool 5.0 owner. He gave me plenty of tips. Checked out my car and complimented it. Took me over to his and told me all about his. Good guy. Here are some pics from the awesome day. Sorry for the bad quality. I have the orange on black, Driyac has the 45th. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I got hooked up to drag racing from the camaro5 Pacific Northwest subgroup and I'm hooked! It's a blast! I never street raced and I'm not an aggressive driver, so it shows in my times, but it's just so great to do it legally and safely with track officials controlling and making sure the track is in good shape and everybody is tech inspected and signed in.
Now, I want to improve my awful times, but also to actually win a race. I got my first win today, but that was only because the other guy had some problems and had to shut down halfway down the strip. But we were .220 and .221 in RT and I was only .007 over dial in so I would have had a great shot of winning even if he had a good run. Bottom line is, you get to go faster than bejeebuz and not get a ticket, and you are pushing your machine to its limits. Just the challenge of shifting at the right time took me quite a few runs to get to. But now I can mostly shift before hitting the rev limit, but not way below. It's harder than it looks to spectators. And getting a good launch sounds easy, but just dropping the clutch at 4000 rpms doesn't do it. And for those guys that say "just feather the clutch to get traction," well, it's a lot easier to say it than to do it. You have to concentrate on reaction time and good launch at the same time. That's the hard part. Oh yeah, did I tell you about red lighting? Don't do that, it overrides everything and you lose, no matter what. Drag racing is a lot harder than it looks like, but its even more fun than it looks like.
