Ported TB question....
Ok, so I was wondering, since SoCal porting seems like it might be the way to go to get our intake manifolds ported, should I just send them my intake and manifold, or would I see an improvement by buying a VMax?
Also, is getting the 80mm a better option and if so, should I get it ported also? Current plan is to get the spacer and then send the spacer, intake and current TB to them to get ported together. Since you guys know a lot more about this I'm looking for some input. I know Kenny has been talking to them, has anyone used their services yet? Thanks

I think Chantro5 has been in touch with SoCal about sending his RB and mani to them, don't know if he pulled the trigger yet. The 80 vs vmaxx tb is a good one. I got the 80 and like it, haven't got a tune yet but still like the increased mpg and performance and love the sound. I'm gonna pm tlavoie87 about porting my own mani. Still think I'm gonna send the 80 out to SoCal to let them port it in the spring before I bring her back out after winter.

The vmaxx ported TB is a stock throttlebody that is 72mm. After porting it's still 72 mm. It flows better and adds 5 rwhp. It costs 300. If you send yours in for the core deposit they will give you 150 back, if it meets there standard. The 80mm is three hundred and you keep your stock 72mm TB, you can try to sell it in the members classified or just keep it. The 80 adds 6-7 rwhp. I have not heard of anyone porting one, but Will of Overkill said it would be beneficial to have it ported. I would think that porting it would and some hp since the stock TB porting adds some. And it's larger to begin with, so like the old saying, bigger is better.

lol. Pretty much the best bet is for SoCal and Pete I would send the Intake manifold, intake spacer if you have and I was planning on sending my 80mm TB to get ported as well. The only roadblock is that I will be the first to do it so I don't know what kind of codes it will throw. I'm trying to be in a perfect world where I can get a dyno tune while getting all those parts put on when they come back from SoCal. Definitely best bang for buck going this route, only question is is it a "safe" bang for buck. I'm going to do it but just trying to go about it the right way so it doesn't hit my pocket too hard.

I've still been doing the ported intakes here and there. I have no problem doing them if someone wanted to send me their manifold. I'm just not messing with the core charge/swap thing at the moment.

There's a video on how to port a stock TB. Planning on doing mine next Friday. Between that one and instructions on doing my own intake, I'm looking at saving between $300-$500. Definitely with the effort from what I can see. I'll justc take my time, get them done, and spend that $500 on an Overkill tune. Seems like a no brainer to me!!!!
