TPMS Sensors-Need more info please

I have to replace one front wheel on my 2012 SS. If I take the stem and sensor off the original wheel and intstall it on the new wheel will I have to take the car to the dealer to get it calibrated.

If I install a new stem and sensor on the new wheel does it have to be calibrated by the dealer?

If you just replace the stem with same sensor you will be fine ..

Most chevy vehicles (that I have worked with) you must "relearn" the sensor if its swapped from say the Right front to the Right Rear or any other position for that matter. If all you're doing is taking the Right Front sensor off the wheel and putting it into a new wheel that will be going back on to the Right Front It should just relearn itself. If your TPMS Light comes on and stays on even after driving for a few mins then any tire shop (or your dealer) should be able to Relearn the sensor for you at no charge. At least where I work we don't charge to just reset the TPMS for them. Hope this helped

I never even gave this a thought until just now. So, my sensors will have to be reset after I rotate my tires/wheels, then?

Most likely yes, if you rotate them and the light comes on then they need to be reset. If not then you're golden. From my experience though, most chevy vehicles almost always have to be reset.

My tire shop didn't reset my sensors on my last GM Car and the TPMS was very confused.....It told me I had a low tire but it was reading the position from where the wheel had been mounted before the new tires. I read the re-set procedure and did it fine.

You can recalibrate the sensors yourself on the Camaro without special tools, regardless of where they were or if they are new or used, although some shops will try to tell you different.

The valve stems usually break when you try to loosen them from the TPMS, but new stems are cheap.

It's all in the owner's manual how to do it, and it's very easy.

They will still read the pressure, but the car will think the tire is in the same place it was before you rotated.

You don't rotate tires on a Camaro.

sam.u.el had it right. Just don't take the sensor more that 50 feet or so away and put it back in the same tire position and it will stay learned.

The 2010 and 11s are like that. The 2012s have to be done with a tool. Don't ask me why they changed it. But they did.

Really? Even though all four of mine are the same size? You're saying I shouldn't/can't rotate my tires and should instead keep them on the same corners until one of them invariably wears out before the others?

FAIL.

You can't rotate on the SS. They're staggered sized and directional.

I just hit 20K miles and I have never rotated. The right side tires are noticeably more worn than the left. Does anyone out there rotate just left<>right? I have a 2011, so I can reset my TPMS without help.

you cant rotate the 20" wheels used on the ss and included with the RS package. I am pretty sure you should rotate the 18 and 19 inch wheels on the ls and lt.
