Been looking and my head hurts. Help an old school guy
You know what I want?
Steel wheels for my 1SS. And the same size all around. I know, I know, the Brembo calipers. I don't need or want fancy multi-spoke mirror polished alloy wheels with all sorts of little details and ridges and sculpting. Just makes them hard to clean I'd like rims that look like the classic Chevy rims of the late '60s. Those are slick, classic and low maintenance. Nobody makes one that fits. I like steel. In the real world, rims get bumped now and then by curbs. I also like to rotate my tires...I got 53K miles on a set of Goodyear Eagle F1s that I abused hell out of on my last car, and that was a torquey RWD sports car with damn near the same power to weight as my 1SS and 340 lb/ft in a car 1,000 pounds lighter than my Chevy. The only gear it didn't get rubber in was the overdrive gear Am I doomed to having no chance to have the wheels I want? I'm looking at wheels and looking and looking...searching here...I don't see what I'm looking for Any help for a guy that previously had the "optional big" 15" wheels on his muscle cars?

If you're old school, the stockers that came with your 1SS are going to be the least offensive. Unfortunately, it only gets worse with the aftermarket stuff that's out there for our cars.

Well, the Torque Thrust Ms are pretty vintage hotrod/muscle-car wheels

You won't find any steel wheels for your car, so give up on that.

www.wheelvintiques.com just what you are looking for, until you see their prices. See page 45 of the catalogue.

I sing the same tune, my man.I got some Torq Thrusts myself and I'm closer to what I want but you're, right. The brembos take up a helluva lot of space. I love the stock steelies that come with the Camaro base models. I'd love to paint them a silver titanium. Some guy put spacers on and ran them in the winter on his SS. As long as the brembos are on there, we will continue to have this conundrum. Hey, those Welds look cool, though. Yeah, pricey but at least you can get them in 17" and fit those huge calipers.

Oh, 20" steel wheels can be had. I could have somebody make custom wheels in steel.
But that's crazy expensive Might just sell my old Ric 4001 and finance the Torq Thrust Ms. Save the stock ones for winter Mud, I think those stock steel wheels are cool too Those Wheel Vintique wheels are pretty slick. But for that price, they should come with a Camaro attached

Also check out the Coys C5. I too am having a hard time finding wheels for this car. Want something that says "muscle car" but looks right for the car. Can't find anything I really like better that the stock wheels. I may just go with a set of the machined face/black stocks.

For God's Sake... Some makes us some RPO N66 Replicas
Since our cars are inspired by the 1969 Camaro, let's have some 1969 inspired wheels...
...not those mesh euro wheels for BMW and Audi wannabee cars. Here is the RPO code N66 optional factory wheel from '69. Someone make a replica. These say, "MUSCLE" !!! And importantly, the don't say, "I wish I'd bought a Bimmer, but could only afford a Chevy" - LOL

Oldbie that nobody knows

I'm running Torq Thrusts because I love the old school look as well. I'm going to switch to Coys C-5's, though. Here's a gallery of a black Camaro wearing the Coys C-5 in gunmetal:http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1752514&type=3
I like the spokes, the smooth lip, and the center cap on them a lot more than the Torq Thrusts and if you get them on special, they are roughly the same price. |
