My car does not sound like a truck.

I'm sitting in my car with it idling and my coworker thats a camaro v6 owner walks across the parking lot and says, "Your car sounds like a truck, whup, whup, whup...".

I just ignored her comment.

(Yes, I'm running straight pipes, but I personally don't think it sounds like a truck.)

Then she goes on a rant about how her exhaust sounds so much better than mine.

I'm like, what?

I think people have forgotten what muscle cars and pony cars are supposed to sound like. Especially having just completed the performance SUV trend of the 90's and 2000's where everyone and their mother had Flowmasters on the family Tahoe/Burb.

Gm trucks have the same basic motors so if they have straight pipes they also have the same sound.

She's a little slow in the head if she thinks her V6 sounds better than your SS. However, LOTS of people immediately associate a V8 sound with trucks nowadays.

Wow that's just stupid. We all know what sounds better but I must say. If you talk to someone with no car bias, or any idea of a car lol and you ask them soley on sound alone, alot of people like the sound of a v6 more then an v8. I know I know, crazy. But it's true
For an example. I'm 21. Had this car since I was 18. Would love to have a v8, the sound and rumble alone is enough to make me drool in all places. But speaking of. I talk to ALOT of chicks. We've had my camaro v6 with a catback and my buddies supercharged SS with the best sounding exhaust ever, and majority of the girls. Not all, claimed the liked mine better. The few others loved the v8. Us guys all drooled over the 8. The girls who said my car didn't care about what was a muscle car and what sounded like one etc. they just liked the sound of mine better
Moral of the story, some people just like the v6 sound better. Me, I'd take a v8 with straight pipes all day every day even on Sunday
Stay Frosty Folks

WOW, guess everyone has a opinion of what a good exhaust sounds like. I loved the sound of my 383 stroker Corvette with full 3" exhaust. THAT was loud when I opened it up. Any v8 with a full exhaust makes a great roar IMO.

Best exhaust I've ever heard: 03 Cobra, resonators deleted w/Aeroturbine exhaust. That...was...amazing. And would wake the dead. I miss it.

a lot of people, especially on this forum, weren't born yet to know what muscle/pony cars sounded like back then.
