UPDATE on all cars stuck in QC (reasons)

Take this for what it is worth but I have a pretty good connection now.

There are 2 reasons Camaros are on hold.
1. Battery recall
2. Painted rear bumper

1. Battery recall - Does not take to long to fix. There were just over 1352 SS that left the plant that needed recalled for the fix. Starting 5/14 the plant is going through the cars on hold in QC to fix the Battery issue so they can be shipped. Notification will be going out via letter on 5/15 to people that currently have there cars about this.

2. Painted rear bumper - Fix time is up to 3 months
There seems to be some type of defect on some of the Camaros. I was not told how many are on hold at this time. Given the amount of time they are stating it has to be quite a few cars.

A little more information on bankruptcy. "If" GM does file the production for Camaros will stop for a small time period but every car that is produced will still be delivered during this time.

My car has the battery hold Thank god so my dealer should get my car by end of May.

I am not sure if this is public knowledge but at least we know what is going on, making it a tad easier.

I can not state where I got it but very close to the source. Being in the Corvette world for 12 years helps. I have to say my dealer is awesome as well.

to be put on by the dealer.

Not understanding what your stating?

Sub 3000? If they have a paint issue it is pulled and set in QC. If it takes up to 3 months to fix sub 3000 could still be waiting. (I am sure if could take more or less time)

Pre 8000 Vin? The battery fix was on issued on 5/5 so I am sure adjustments were made on the production line to fix the battery problem going forward.

I did not get any more info on colors etc. I am sure it is a flaw in the painting system so each color would be affect depending on which batch was going through.

2SSRS - I understand your frustration. I am not sure I would want a car that has already been repainted. I have heard that it is semi noticeable do to the non orange peel on the rear bumper. So, everyone getting there cars should look over there car when they get it and if they notice it should ask the dealer to detail i.e. buff and polish the whole car.

On a side note the they are aware of the warranty start date and any car in the QC hold will be setup with a new warranty start date.

YES! I am a VERY lucky guy today. I have a few cars on order and NONE of them are moving and since my wife is driving my lease it is costing me money every day.

So, with patience and persistence I was able to find a dealer that has a car coming in this week. 5/15. ABM (rare) 2SS/RS with Auto. Bought it for MSRP and doc fee of 190 dollars.

The dealer is in Ann Arbor MI so we will either fly up to get it and drive it home or have it delivered. The sales rep stated I was lucky I put money down on the car when I did because since he has had 3 offers and one over MSRP and he told them it was already sold...

One question: It states on the paperwork - that the warranty start date is 5/15. Since this is a brand new untitled car how can it start from that date?

With that said if anyone wants my spot with the cars below let me know:

1. Ordered 4/8 2SS/RS - CGM w/ black stripes and polished wheels - 1000 dollars down check so nothing taken from me as of yet.

I am afraid its going to be more than a short shutdown if GM files for bankruptcy. All Chrysler assembly plants are still shut down. GM has agreed to pay suppliers prior to June 1st so this may help. Ordered on 5-4. Gonna be a long wait.

Thanks for the info... but I have to wonder why it would take 3 months on the rear bumper?? Seems kind of excessive.
