Had to post this: 80s vision of a Camaro in 20 years

Found this book from the 80s on Future Dream Cars. It shows a prototype concept of the Camaro of the Future. Check it out:

The 4th generation was loosely based on that concept.

Looks like they knew what the 4th gen was going to look like.

It's pretty much exactly a 4th gen just bloated.

It was even ugly as a concept.

The Banshee (firebird concept for 4th gen) looked a little better.

Those designs were inspired by the Chevrolet CERV III in the mid-late 1980's. The design was absolutely revolutionary and certain things carried forward for years--- the hidden a-pillars under steeply raked and rounded glass, the cab-forward design, slanted B-pillar, etc. There are also some striking similarities to the front end of a C5 Corvette....the design was largely taken from the CERV III when the C5 was introduced in 1997. I'd love to own one of these concepts.

If I remember right that was called the California Camaro. What book did you find that in? Cool to see how the concept for the fourth gen was revealed. Anybody else think that the production cars look better than the concepts? I do.
