Ashen Gray Hood Insert Support Group

Hi I'm Dan and I just found out my ZL1 will be born with Ashen Gray Hood Insert Disorder. (who comes up with these names?)

As I understand, it's some kind kind of skin condition that affects the pigment of the nose. It will become more and more prevalent in the months to come and there is currently no cure, but I'm sure there will be treatments with which to help our ZL1's live a normal life like the first generation of ZL1's, even if they never enjoy the same prestige.

I don't need sympathy, I'm a fighter and my ZL1 will be too and we are going to fight this together.

I know I'm not alone, others young ZL1's will soon be born with this condition , so I wanted to start a group where we can all swap ideas and uplifting stories of triumph, and of overcoming the stigma that may be associated with this disorder.

If you're out there, you're not alone. Won't you join me and we will beat this...together.

i just want mine to be born been on order at the latest dealer for 2 months no movement (been waiting since jan 2011) i dont care if they paint it pink just make me a freaking car

So did you get the AG hood insert?? You didn't go with carbon fiber? Have you already received your 13?

I seen one this weekend, Crystal Red Tintcoat that had the Ashen Grey insert. It was at the Camaro Nationals in MD. Looks good!

Personally, I like the carbon fiber best. Ours has the flat black insert. It's more rare, but the carbon fiber looks best...so....

350 hrss you didnt happen to get a picture of the crt with the ashen grey hodd insert did you as that is the exact car i have on order

Are you sure that was the ashen grey insert I meet the owner there and we talked for awhile. That was a MY 2012 and I believe only the MY 2013's are recieving the ashen grey inserts. As far as I know none of our readers on the forums have recieved there MY 2013's yet.

Unless there was a second crystal red ZL1 that GM sent over to the show that I did not see. The one I saw was next to the fence and had another Victory red ZL1 next to it. Both had the polished wheels. In fact a forum reader posted a pic of both of them in the mid atlantic section under the heading Frederick Camaro Nationals event.

I did happen to see the Ashen Gray Metallic stripe on D.E. Jr's Black ZL1 VIN#008 that Hendrick bought. It leads me to believe that the Ashen Gray insert will have the same color code GLJ as is offered on the car.

My ZL1 will be AGM so the insert will just blend with the rest of the hood and won't stand out in any way. I'm considering outlining it in IOM Pinstripes and painting my calipers IOM but that just an idea I havent really had time to really work out how it will actually look. Either, way I'm not really thrilled with it blending in with the rest of the car. Its supposed to stand out.

As I was leaving Saturday around 1pm, a CRT ZL1 with Berger badges and rear blackout treatment was coming in. I didn't follow it till it parked to speak with the owner to see if it was a Berger owned or customer car. Maybe it had the ashen gray insert.
I left earlier than I wanted to because I had to be back home for a show my club was putting on Saturday night.

I was told by the Gm guy's in Milford that the carbon fiber was more rare than black! interesting!!WE ordered black but ended up getting carbon because of the constraint issue. I now love the look of the carbon and a lot of people say that the carbon makes the car stand out and looks unique !

What color is you ZL1? Have you got any ideas to mod your insert or you just gonna live with it?
