Advice needed for the track!

I have not been to the track in many years. I am going to take my car to either Fontana or Bakersfield. What safety equipment is needed besides a helmet? I going to pick up a set of NT05R tires, hopefully the car will run a good number!

Don't waste your time with those shitty tires.
Buy a set of Mickey Thompsons.

Just a helmet.

I run a 305/35/20 Mickey drag radial. Daily drive on it.

As mentioned, your NT05's are going to be worthless. Ive used them before. 4 second 60 ft times are embarrassing.

I now have 325 M&H racemasters and have issues with wheel spin with about 100 less rwhp.

If you can get it into the 11's you will need a drag racing jacket.
also, your valve stems need to be the screw in type, not the plug in type.
I think this is about it for a 08 and newer vehicle.

You will need a Snell 2005 Helmet or newer
You will need a fire jacket
you will need a cage if you run faster than 11.59 - which by the power numbers you're at, you should be significantly faster than 11.59

the 11.59 cage requirement is one of those, you can run faster once and be warned, 2nd time you get kicked off type things. if it is dead out, then you may be able to run a few times with a few warnings, depends on their mood.

This applies for Fontana for sure, Bakersfield, i'm not sure of.

Bakersfield is much more lenient on ET's/speed. Unless you have a 5 or 6 point bar, Fontana is going to be a quick trip. I was tossed @ 590rwhp for running 11.43. Bakersfield will let you go 10.0 unless you're a dick.

You need a Snell 2010 or newer now that the 2015's are out.

For a helmet, check www.TheHelmetMan.com and look in the closeout section. The 2010's are as low as $75 now.

For tires, check Summit. They usually stock them, but they go quick.

Like others have said, look for MT ET Street R's. NT05R's are a pain in the a$$ to get hot unless you have a line lock, and still stubborn with one.

Thanks for the info you saved me a trip to Fontana! I guess I am headed to Bakersfield As for the tires I'm going with the ET streets in a 305/35/20
I'm going to make a few passes and make sure all is well, then set it on kill and go big!
