Blueprint drawing software?

Anyone here know of some programs that will allow me to sketch out basic blueprint?

I'm going to be building a custom entertainment center and I want to put my hand drawings into something a little more accurate. Wold be nice to scale it out too.

Linux compatibility is a plus but not a requirement.

I know about auto cad, but I was looking more on the free side. I can't really justify the money for autocad software for a couple projects.

Pirate the software? I'll ask some employees at my firm if they know of any freeware. Also you can get a 30 day trial of an Autodesk software I believe.

Google SketchUP (free version) is a great tool. You can layout the entertainment center in 2D and extrude it into a 3D model. Just download the program and start messing around with it, that's how I taught myself. We still use it in my office (architectural) from time to time to show clients basic 3D models.

I also use AutoCAD and MicroStation drafting programs, but they are on the expensive side, and probably not worth it to purchase just for this. If you wanted, you could send me your sketch and I could draft it to scale and make a pdf of it for you.

I might do that if I can't figure sketchup out.

No problem, just let me know. And if you have any SketchUp questions I can try to help you out with that too. I am at work tomorrow, and then out Thursday-Sunday for Fest.
