Good or Bad deal?
Hey everyone,
I drove by my local Chevy dealership and saw they had a used Camaro in the lot. Turned out to be a 2011 2SS Manual, white with red strips and the inferno interior. It only has 28,000 miles on it. They are asking $24,995. They appraised my Automatic 2015 LT with RS package at $23,500 with 9,000 miles on it. Ever since I got my automatic I missed my manual. But would it be a bad choice to go back 4 years? Thanks for your input. |

2015 2LT/RS with 9,000 miles for $23,500? Your car is worth about $27,000 or more retail value. The 2011 that you are looking at is about what they are going for now. So the price for the 2011 is a good deal but what they are offering for your car is not a fair price. They just don't want to owe you on a trade, so that is why they gave you that price. It's not good buisness to be in the hole on a deal.

Mine is the 1LT not the 2LT, but still worth more than the $23k.
That's what I assumed. I just like to get second opinions. I'll wait to see what the 2016 looks like and go from there. Maybe get a 15 used for a good deal then as well. I appreciate the input. |

Exactly. That being said, I would consider the trade if the 2011 is in near perfect shape but I prefer the 2010-2013 body styling. So for me it's a win win. Better looks, more power, trading the auto for a manual. Only real draw back is slightly more miles on the SS. Oh and if the interior is Orange are you sure the stripes aren't also orange? In the shade my car looks more red than orange. Last edited by zr1chris; 05-01-2015 at 02:37 PM. |

Look up your 1LT here:
https://www.cars.com/sell/book-value/ Black Book value (trade-in) is around $23K at the high end. Private sale $1-2k more. |

I say go for it. The SS is what you want and you can get into it without taking a bath. That V6 you own, it's going to take a nosedive in value when the 2016 models come out. Get it done while you can, and don't worry about $1000 one way or the other. If you are going to send them a payment every month, make it be for a car you love.

The answer depends on whether you have a loan.
If you do, going backwards in model years and further into debt is not good. |
