Alpine Type R 6.5 speakers
I installed these in my car last night and was very disappointed. I'm running the four channel JL replacement amp. I ended up taking them back out and staying with my Factory BA stuff. This is the first time the factory stuff sounded better than aftermarket for me.
I have always thought Alpine made great products but from now on I will just stick with their head units. Needless to say I will be selling the 6.5, Tweeters, and 6X9's. I'm going to be researching more high end mids and highs. I have dynamat to put on my doors and rear deck. Any suggestion on brands? Last edited by mxracer; 09-30-2012 at 07:17 AM. |

What the...?
I've been running my Alpine's for well over a year now with the JL xd400 and I think they still sound great! In your opinion, what was lacking with them? Were you running the amp at HPF or full for the front stage?

You will need to add a Amp to get a good sound out of the Alpine speakers Is what I was told.

He said in the OP that he has added a JL 4 channel amp. The should Have been a kick Azz setup. I'm looking at the JL audio XD 5 channel amp and was considering these exact speakers.
