GM to sell Hummer Saab Saturn to Chinese company

http://www.comcast.net/articles/fina...US.Automakers/

Sad..... If this would had to happen differently I could see them killing Pontiac and GMC and selling Saab. Hummer had made plenty of money for the general, but opportunist are blaming high gas prices for it's demise. I would say without any doubt if the economy was normal or higher there would be no problem selling any Hummer even if gas prices were high. Less people out there are lending and even less have jobs, so I'm not drinking the cool-aid as unleaded being the cause. Oh well guess were just like China now with all the companies being run in the background by the government. I wonder if a year from now when a Hummer rolls over on the highway will it say MADE IN CHINA underneath.

I agree with getting rid of SAAB and Hummer, but i think letting go of Saturn isn't a wise decision.

I understand the manufacturing will take place in the US so no US jobs are lost and I doubt many Chinese jobs are being created.

Yes but for how long unless the contract states all manufacturing will stay here.

Hell GM could have done that w/o selling. Just like they moved the SRX production from Michigan to Mexico for the new 2010 SRX.

Even though it is a GM product, the only thing I ever think of when it comes to Saab is that line from an episode of Seinfeld.

Jerry: See ya around, Maroon Golf! Oh and by the way, that was a "I'm not sorry wave".

Maroon Golf: What was that?

Jerry: I'm glad I cut you off! Because Black Saab rules! So long jackass!

Anyone else find it ironic besides myself that the Hummer, a vehicle used by the United States Military, is being sold off to the Peoples Republic of China?

While it is kinda funny, the current Hummers are pretty much unrelated to the military versions. The military HMMWV (Hummvee) is made by AM General and isn't made on the same platform or anything as the hummer brand.
