A couple more HID install questions...

For those of you who have baked, opened, and installed your new projectors in a non RS light, at what temperature and how long did you have to heat the housing?

Also, where would I find good info on aligning the projectors, or is this not applicable to our application? Seems to me that if you get the projector in there and it doesn't sit perfect left to right or up and down that it would be very obvious...not sure though.

That's all the questions I have for now, but since I am doing this install tomorrow night and Saturday, I may have more...Feel free to add any tips or suggestions to this as well...Just want to do it right the first time, and not have to open these damn things back up a second time due to my lack of knowledge...

When I installed my halos, I baked mine on like 200 for 7 or 8 minutes. Took it out, tried it a little and then stuck them back in there to repeat until they finally opened. Its better to take them out too soon than too late. It took me like 3 cycles of this to get them apart, then again I was being extra careful not to melt them. Be sure to rotate your housing in the oven bout half way through so you get a more even heating and not risk melting any one spot

Thank you. I just found ddavis's post about doing his lights. Cleared up lots of my questions, and put me at ease for this...a little bit.

If your using the same projectors as everyone else the will mount perfectly center.. You can adjust the lights up and down using factory adjustment screw. The one thing I had to do was turn the projector to get a straight cutoff line. Both adjustments can be done while the lights are already installed. Hope that helps a little.

Thank you Unfkwthabl...That was my main concern after spending the time and energy to open the lights up. I watched a couple of projector install videos that show people having to make brackets to stand their reflectors up to center the beam and all...that was a bit overwhelming considering this time and one more would make twice I have attempted this...

You usually have to make drastic changes to the headlamp and projector when you don't get a mini projector. Bigger projectors like the fx-r, although significantly better in light quality and output, are a lot harder to mount.

It is, its rather simple really. Just take them apart, paint them if your going to and then assemble, aim and seal.

If u have a place to leave the car while torn apart that is facing a wall, I would mark where the current lights are at and that makes aiming a cake walk

Yeah, going to back it into my garage just for that reason, along with, I don't want to have to move it while its in pieces since I will be doing the breakdown Friday night, and reassembly on Saturday.

Okay, well that's perfect. Here's my advice. Mark where the stock lights shine on the garage door or wall. Then, take everything apart. Get the HID kit wired up and ready to guy while your headlights are in the oven. Then, mount the projector into the headlights and then with the projector SECURELY screwed in, test the headlamps by putting them on the car with no lense on the headlamp. Like that, you can tell if you need to rotate or get the light output higher to match the stock ones. After it's matched up to the stock output, you can seal everything up and be confident it's all lined up well.

BTW, take special attention in how you handle and install the bulbs. I wouldn't touch the bulbs very much. Also, make sure the bulbs are installed into the projector right and are seated right. Sometimes, people think the projector isn't outputting enough light when in fact it's just that a minor adjustment to the bulb needs to be made.

Perfect ls...thank you. I plan on wearing latex gloves the whole time I am handling lights. Not sure if that is 100% foolproof, but it can't hurt.

I guess it can help but if you got them from TRS, they should come packaged in a clear tube. You can just keep them in there until you need them. Even then, it's easy to handle them without touching the actual bulb.
