Daly driver
Hello,
I am thinking about buying a ZL1 but it would be my only car I only drive about 6000 miles a year. I live in AZ but we do see some 20 degree weather and I was wondering if that would be an issue for the super charger? Any other things I might need to know about using a ZL1 as a daily driver I would like to hear your thoughts.

Just the tires are a concern, as far as I know. You'll need an all season tire to ensure you don't crack the tread blocks when you get below freezing. Also, make sure there is antifreeze in the supercharger cooling circuit in the winter (and not just water and water-wetter).

Thanks for the information! I was looking at Super charging my current Camaro and was told the unit could not be run under 25 degrees that is why I asked. I lived in PA and that stopped me from getting the Camaro when I looked at them when they first came out. Now living in AZ I have had no issues with my current car but it has me wanting more I'm just disappointed it will probably be a used one instead of new.
Thanks Tom

I live up north (Michigan) and on a cool day (45 degrees is about as cool as I've gone out due to stock tires), and it runs like a scalded dog. Traction is an issue as far as power, but for comfort, it'll absolutely do. I'd get a set of BFGoodrich Comp 2 A/S and go.

I see ZL1's and supercharged SS's up here in CO. BFG's are your friend.

I just installed G Force 2 in the front and Conti DWS06's in the rear (315's) and couldn't be happier!

A general comment. I've driven all sorts of cars and trucks as daily drivers at a number of price points. I've driven between 50 and 100 miles per day in a combination of light freeway and very dense freeway traffic for 30 years now. The ZL1 is the best daily driver I've ever had, by far, period.

Consider the Michelin AS/3 if you can afford. I have run mid 11 secs on them in Low'50 Deg, they hook pretty good in warm weather as well. Very quiet, very soft, but expensive.. I can only compare the sidewall to the OEM super cars which I keep for track days on the OEM rims and the AS/3 doent compare. as far as cold there are few expiences like 35 degrees with a good silica all season and SC..
