Does Badging your car help with people wanting to race you?
Got this idea from another thread. And my friends and I were debating this after I put my TVS2300 on. I was thinking a supercharged decal would keep the Shihtzu's from wanting to play with the Pit bulls.
So you guys with power adders and badged accordingly. What has been your experience? How about the ZL1's? Do you get challenged by civics still?

If you were in about any Camaro, that civic probably would still try to race you. It's not like the owner knows the difference, he drives a civic.
As a side note, I was with my dad in a parking lot and we saw a probably 2006ish Mustang with decals that said 300 HP. My dad saw that, chuckled and said "That's cute." |

Again, you are conjecturing. I've debated this too. I am interested in actual experiences. someone in another thread said she put 6.2 badges on her SS and that behavior stopped.

And I was just saying if I were messing with a car, a badge wouldn't scare me away from it. The person could still believe that is not the correct badging. Anyone can go buy a few 6.2 badges and stick them on their car. Including that guy in the Civic. |

Sorry, i meant to say "we" are conjecturing. There was a whole bunch of differing opinions in the other thread and only one actual experience that said badges will stop that sort of nonsense. I'd like to hear actual results.

It's cheaper to buy the badging than the actual upgrades... People can put anything they want on the car.

Down here if you got have the badges they mess with you even more. When i had my SS everything from cubes to ferraris tried to get a run out of her. Id rather have something lurking under the hood nobody knows about.

I can't say that I've had one person play that game with my ZL1, at least yet. I only get the people at stop lights that are so close you can only see their heads from the rear view mirror. So for gods sake don't drift even one inch, literally, or you'll be at fault for hitting them.

I can vouch for the de-badging, before i took them off at least once a day i would have another car trying to race me. Now that i took off my ss and bowties, significantly less people try to do so.
On a side note, There was a white ZL1 here in Tulsa that i revved up to at a light, only to have me take off and him do absolutely nothing, very disappointing if you ask me, seeing as my SS was bone stock.

I have never had someone pull up to me and want to race . Just lots of thumbs up and positive one liners.
I really think it is all about demographics of your town or city. |

I have an LS, and got tired of being asked what model it was, seeing as the LS only comes with fender Camaro lettering and front and rear bowties. I actually put LS badging from emblempros on my Camaro. People stopped asking me which one I had, and people smart enough to know stopped wasting time with me. Those who still try are civics and such that have no clue regardless. However, it DID cut down on the number of people with nicer cars/models than mine trying to mess with me.
