I'm completely confused by the whole FE3,FE4,FE5,FE6,FE7,FE8,FE9, and FE10 deal.

FE2 is the V6
FE3 is the 2010-2011 SS
FE4 is the 2012+SS
FE5 is the ZL1
FE6 is the 2013 SS w/ 1LE Package

i think that is right, lol

GM codes their RPO suspension ride softness levels with a FE number, for build codes. The higher the number, the higher the performance

From my recent research, I come up with: EDIT
Blah, blah, blah incorrectness

Expert has chimed.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured it was something like that. I'm more confused about when the aftermarket companies are talking about upgrading the stock FE3 suspension in my car to something higher. Are they talking about using stock GM components to upgrade? Or using pfadt/pedders/Bmr stuff to make it "like" an upgraded GM suspension.

The main difference is fairly simple.

FE2 and FE3 have very similar parts, just slight differences in parts. The rear swaybar mounts inboard of where the strut mounts to the contorl arm.
FE4, updates the rear control arms and sway bar, it mounts outboard of where the strut mounts.
FE5 is the ZL1, and is similar, but ads Magnaride Struts.
FE6 is the 1LE, uses monotube struts, and it setup for track use to a certain extent from the factory.

The biggest thing that is referred to by aftermarket suppliers is the rear swaybar mounting points,
FE3 typically covers FE2 and FE3
FE4 typically covers FE4, FE5, and FE6.

upgrading from FE3 to FE4 requires new rear lower control arms, as well as the FE4 style rear swyabar and links.

Hope this helps, if not let me know where i can be more clear.

Ok. So that means my car has FE3 pfadt sway bars and endlinks. What would be the benefit of updating to FE4 or FE6 pfadt/pedders sway bars and end links?

that would depend on how you drive the car, tire sizes, damper/spring settings, ect.

I really do my best to tailor my recomendations to the person, since what works well for one person may not for another person.

I'm running 20 x 11 and 20 x 9.5 forgelines. Current set up is pfadt sways, pfadt endlinks, pfadt lowering springs in the front, and pedders lowering springs in the rear. I'm primarily street driving with some spirited back country stuff.

moving to the FE4 swaybars will give you better balance once you push the car past 7/10ths, and provide better control of the rear suspension.
it also will allow you to run a bit more camber in the rear, while keeping the balance at the 7/10ths point and higher.
