bbk headers

if i get the bbk headers with HF cats but in chrome(mild steel) would that be bad?

what is the oem headers made of btw?

I dont know if spending 100$ to get ceramic would be worth it, i dont race, but i like speeding to the speed limit

Oem exhaust manifolds are made out of cast iron I believe, and I personally would go with ceramic coating bc they keep the temps down jmo

Save your money for a stainless steel shorties. You don't race, but speeding to the limit will be better. The LT headers I have(OBX) are T-304 s/s same setup as bbk just like $400 difference minus the hi flow cats. I havent installed them yet.

The chrome ones will prob just rust before the others. As lil'nasty said get the ceramic coated. It will help keep temps down in the engine bay and help prevent heat soak better than the others.

so go for any ceramic coating, gotcha.

and well i do hit my rev limit more than i should, people alway wanna race me... i guess its a camaro thing or effect.

i know shorties are good in low rpm but i always felt my low was strong, but my upper rpms seem weak.

plus the idea of high flow cat would be better than just shorties right? dont HF cats increase hp as well? the bbk headers long tube with hf cats had a average of about 30 hp and tq

Long tubes? I woudl clamp them just in case for some reason you don't pass emissions with them you can take them off and go back to stock.

Headers go bolted onto the block on the LLT. No welding or clamping.

Actually 30hp/tq is not right....at least, not at peak. On a stock car, that power was gained in the mid to mid upper rpms, but at peak, 18HP and about that much TQ was gained.

On a V6 that is not stock, you can expect to add around 15hp....20 tops. That is still very good.

And actually, it is the addition of the HFCs that makes most of the power gained with LT headers in my opinion.
