Shifter makes a glitch sound in the dash?
Has anyone had the issue of their Camaro making a snapping sound up in the dash around the column when they depress the release on the shifter?:(
If you press it multiple times it makes the snapping noise each time you depress it.

If it's an automatic, then yes. That is part of the safety mechanism to prevent you from shifting out of Park without the brake depressed.

Should it make the sound with the brake depressed?
I just went out to start and press the brake. The sound is still there. It is definitely coming from in the dash around the steering column. I listened to the sound from the engine area, but the sound is from in the car.

It sounds like a measuring tape bending past the flex point. It had not done it before last night. How do you get it quiet again? I will be taking it back in to the dealer to finish a different issue, so I will have them look at it.

Since you are going back, you can have them check it out anyway, but I think that sounds about right.

Hey edog,
I just checked my truck (Nissan Frontier) and it makes the exact same sound. It has since day one and it has never been an issue. |
