2012 SS vs 2013 GT

Had both and my observations are the camaro handles better stock. GT isn't a slouch though. GT runs harder though. Paint is better. Quality of the interior is about the same. MPGs are better in the GT. Price are about equal....GT a little cheaper for what you get.

The GT seems to over power the tire (Pirellis) very easily after getting to 3k rpm.

I think the Camaro handles better in day to day street driving, especially looking at the fact it rides on bigger wheels. On a track, I'd say the 13 GT has the edge, if ever so slight. It does have more body roll however, and in turn, I think provides less driver confidence. When I drove the SS, it felt like it was much faster due to the flat torque curve. It came on in one big wave and didn't let off until red line.

My impression the 2013 GT driven last week felt livelier and revs felt more athletic than the SS. My SS is modded suspension wise so it was more planted and confidence inspiring. You can clearly tell the wheels on the SS and rear end gearing is the handicap where the GT 3.73 and lighter wheels and rev happy engine made the GT easier to get up and go felt like it had a tune but it was factory.

I drag raced a stock auto 2012 GT with my stock 2010 LS3 in our own " Race track " so there are no times to post. the GT was about 1 car in front of me in the 1st run and half car in the 2nd run. could get better results if I shift perfectly. For daily driving the camaro is little bit better, both are good looking cars with awesome power. Was really impressed with the 5.0 performance compared to the slow 4.6

No doubt the GT will win in a straight line, driver skill equal or even if the GT driver has a slightly less edge in skill. Similar HP but weighing less, its really no comparision...

....what would be interesting is to see them race in a track setting that involves turns. I have seen two different reports pitting a Zl1 against a 2013 GT500 and the results were the ZL1 beats it in a track setting, proving HP is not always everything. Would be curious how a 2012 SS would do against a 12-13 GT (both stock of course).

I am glad Ford went with the 5.0. Hard to believe that just a few years ago, those 4.6 V8's were only cranking 300ish HP...

having owned both i feel it's fair to say the Camaro has the better manual transmission and nicer options, but the 6 speed mustang flat out boogies. I had a 2011 auto equipped 5.0 and it was fast and fun although a bit boring. the new 2013 6 speed manual with the track pac is a whole different beast. i might have bought a 2013 Camaro but they were more expensive and a bit heavy. i do miss my 2010 2SS though.

If I remember right the 6 speed in all the mustangs is what's in the ay6 in the camaros

I think the TR in the Camaro is definitely more reliable and sturdy, but the MT82 I think shifts a lot better and the shifter feels much smoother. And what do you mean nicer options in the Camaro? And I agree, the 2013 Track Pack is a deal and a half for what you get. It's a mini Boss.

No, Ford uses the MT-82 in both V6 and V8 Mustangs. V8 Camaro uses a Tremec, and I thought the V6 Camaro used Aisin (probably spelled wrong?)

I think you are thinking of a 6-speed auto transaxle (FWD applications) that Ford and GM co-developed a little while ago.

I like the camaro gauges better, the heated seats are nicer. ONStar, heated side view mirror, heads up display and the boston sound system makes the shaker 500 sound like an 80's boom box. that being said i do prefer the solid rear axle of the mustang and in stock form the mustang is faster. my fist pass in my 2011 A6 was a 12.76, i havent had a chance to run the 2013 M6 yet. also i had zero paint issues with my 2011 Muatang where i had all kinds of chips in my Camaro paint.

I couldn't agree more. I am thinking about the transzilla especially if i go forced induction.

i've had a fair amount of experience with an mt82 in a 2013 boss. ****. i would be so mad if i had to pay for that car. the rest of the car is very nice but that trans just ruins it.
