Stupid Question: Are these Polished or Midnight rims?

As in the title.. Are my rims, as seen in the picture below, polished? Or midnight silver?

Here's another shot in the car. Not the best shot, but shows the wheel in sunlight.

Your first pic has brake dust all over, so it looks like Midnight Silver.
Your second pic has clean wheels which look like polished.

Could you get the polished wheels on a 2LT / RS? Or were they only available on the SS?

There is a bunch of brake dust on the first picture. The wheels are in the garage, and the winters are on. Haven't had a chance to clean them yet. The other picture is from the spring, and the wheels should be clean. Will a dealership be able to do a VIN lookup and see what my wheels are?

Polished wheels can be on a 2LT/RS. I had those. As for the Midnight, the inside should be black. so if your inside is the same color as outside minus the polished finished, then u have polished wheels.

not meaning to thread jack, but are the polished rims on the SS clear coated? or can they be polished with one of the wheel polishers I see for wheels? Mine just don't seem to shine like I would expect them to. Thanks!

First post and I get to help someone!

The majority of wheels on modern cars are clear coated and should not be polished like metal. They can scratch just like the clearcoat on your paint. They explain it pretty well in this adams video for wheel cleaning. http://www.adamspolishes.com/t-Detai...els_Tires.aspx

The polished wheels are cleared. Only way to repolish them is to strip the clearcoat polish then reclear.

Thanks for the info. So I can clean and buff ( wax?) them like I do the car?
Will eventually upgrade wheels to something I like( when I can ever figure it out, too many damn GREAT looking wheels on here to decide yet) but want to keep the stockers looking good until then.

Yes, that is the proper care for them.
