Wow... I get it now...

As a Challenger owner for almost 2 years, I had never driven a Camaro before this week. Well, I picked a Camaro 2LT up at LAX this week as my rental car from National Car Rental.

All I can say is - wow....

1. The V6 Camaro seems at least as fast as my Hemi Challenger R/T - I am guess this has a lot to do with weight - cannot imagine how fast the SS must be...

2. Handling - very tight and very good brakes

3. Blind spots - no worse than the Challenger, and perhaps a little better

4. Room / Comfort - much smaller than the Challenger - this is the one place where the Challenger may be an easier car (for me) to live with

5. Build quality - mind you, this is a rental car with 11,000 miles on it in less than 9 months. Yet, it is tight and well put together. Very impressive condition and quality given the hard use - interior plastics look durable, paint is only moderately swirled (amazing given the 2-3 automatic car washes per week...)

Gotta hand it to the Camaro - it is one heck of a car.

Feel the same way, My V6 is just as fast as previous V8 muscle cars I have owned.
I like the challenger also for the room and retro looks. (formerly owned 72 Roadrunner).

Lanzz,

Thank you so much for saying that! I very much appreciate and respect when people who own certain cars can still say positive things about other cars (instead of being one track minded).

One thing I would like to say about your car, the Challenger, is that of all the retro styled cars I've seen (including Camaros and Mustangs) your Challenger looks the most like its predecessor in my opinion.

Oh and by the way...I LOVE the look of your car when I see one in Orange...it's just beautiful.

You might "get it" now, about what all the hype is about the Camaro, but your car is still cool too.

Thanks again.

Kudos to the OP. Thanks for the props. Challenger is a beautiful car as well but I wouldn't trade my camaro for anything...except an SS or ZL1

Thanks for sharing your story OP! I love the Challenger, but I just never been a Dodge guy. Having said that, I'd love to own a Challenger any day of the week, however the Camaro has always been my favorite of the three.

My Camaro in particular use to be a rental. Didn't know it when I bought it, I found out later. Either way it had 12,000 miles on it, but was in relatively great condition. Just the usual rental interior soiling. Just needed a good cleaning and it was like new again. Either way, I'm happy I got my Camaro. Just because it's a rental doesn't mean it's forever trashed.

Wouldn't call the V6 Camaro light at just short of 4000 lbs. I have a V6 and I am very impressed with it. Would have loved to afford the V8.

The challenger is one of my other favorite cars. My dads got a 2010 SRT plum crazy. The interior is amazingly better the camaro. Great body. Price tag....about 10 grand too much for me. Plus its heavier. Either way, those challengers are a sexy car.

Love both of these cars! I drive the dodge daily... More room for me. My wife drives the Camaro. The v-6 in hers is faster.

I test drove the Challenger RT before I test drove the Camaro, I really enjoyed the car, but once I got into a Camaro I was no longer excited about the Challey, it had to be a Camaro for me. If they didn't make Camaros then it for sure would have been a Challey, I hold a certain admiration for those cars, ya they have lots more room in them, but even with that smaller V8, the V6 Camaro felt way more powerful, I liked the handling in the Camaro way better too, it felt like I was driving a land barge in that tank of a car. looks wise? I have to call it a tie between the futuristic looks of the Camaro with a classic twist, and the totally classic look of the challenger,

Challenger Is a very nice looking car and as was already stated, looks as retro as any of the new muscle cars. The problem I have with even test driving one is I had a nightmare experience with a dodge Intrepid years ago and swore I would never own a Dodge/Chrysler again.
I hold a grudge like a nun...

I have to agree, the Challenger is an awesome retro looking car. Dodge did their homework and executed an awesome looking ride, performance ..... eehhhhh.

To LANZ, if you like the V6 get your hands on a SS manual. YOu will giggle you butt off the minute you stomp on the pedal .

The Challenger is a good looking car. It seems like the the past couple of years they have put together some nice colors and stripe packages.
