2010 LLT single- dual exhaust

Hey guys my name is jimmy. I'm new to the forum. I was just wondering if anyone had tried taking a V6 camaro and running a single 3 or4 in. mid pipe to a dual 2.5 axle back exhaust? i was thinking of trying it but i was wanting some opinions on the matter before i tried anything.

yea keep the same basic setup but instead of having a an H pipe and dual pipes back from the catalytic converters, just have one single pipe till you get to the axle and keep stock style there. I think it would create a better sound than the stock duals. I also have a GMPP axle back exhaust.

If I am not mistaken wouldn't that take away power? That would restrict the flow of the exhaust a great deal. I wouldn't see any benefits from it.

Eh maybe not... If the pipe is 4 inchs then it would be plenty big enough to allow good flow. It was just an idea! Also if I kept it dual then what would happen if I upped the exhaust size to about 3 in. ?

Camaro V6 - is this for performance, sound or both?

Something to consider - by going to s single center pipe - you'll need to do some calculations for various RPM on what the size will be and determine the optimum size. The center section will allow the exhaust gas "stall" in the larger pipe so it will need to be the correct size to keep the velocity of the exhaust. Do a search for header / exhaust calculators on the web - there a re quire a few available to help.

If you stay dual, 2.5 or 2.75 is about max due to off the shelf availability and the larger pipe will give a bit of a deeper tone. The 3" is available for the SS but in my opinion won't get you much except for a lighter wallet.

+1...and using anything larger than a 2.5 pipe is agree'd also to be a waste. Unless your running turbo's or a MEAN a$$ N/A set up!
