How do I find out the build date of my car?

Under your hood passenger side frame rail..there is a tag with the date on it...like this

I know what day mine was built.. Mike Judge called my house the moment it was being driven off the assembly line.. May 31th 2012 8:30 P.M.

The frame sticker may not be 100% accurate (as others will chime in), but it's close enough for Government work.

What does your frame rail sticker say? Is it the same time?

The date I was told and what is printed on the frame rail sticker are not the same on mine.

I was told it was built 08/24/2012.
The tag has 08/23/2012 08:28:58 PM printed on it.

They are close. Not sure where the dealer got the date from. Or which is right.

I asked the dealer for my cars build sheet and that had the date built on it. I will compare it to the frame rail now that I know it's there. Thanks for the info SH.

IIRC, You can find tags similar to the one you see on the frame rail on many components of your car.
Those tags will reflect the date/time for THAT component, not neccessarily the date/time all the components were combined to create your car.

The one on the frame rail just happens to be one that is easily visable.

The actual date/time your car officially rolled off the assembly line may differ just a bit from the frame rail tag, that's why I mentioned, the frame date/time may not be exact for a 'build date', but it's within a day or two.

Vin is on the tag....not that built part, I read on this forum that this is the build date? So now I don't know?

I believe the VIN would be on that part to show that part was meant to be used to built the very car that the VIN is assigned to.
