Questioning my sanity......

Hello ladies and gents,

I have been lurking here for several months and decided to finally "jump in". I have a problem and am looking for some insight and thoughts.

I have a '69 RS/SS (big block) that is not yet finished. I love the car but I think I love the new Camaro just as well.

As I see them the pluses of getting the 2010 would be:

1) being able to take off somewhere and not worry about getting there (without getting the wrenches out)

2) creature comforts such as a/c and cruise

3) I really like the level 2SS with the RS package in yellow with the black hockey stick stripes.

4) Better handling (read new suspension)

the minuses I see would be:

1) I feel certain that the '69 will continue to appreciate where I know there will be depreciation with a new car.

2) There is definitely a WOW factor with the '10, but as more cars are produced that will diminish, the '69 will only grow more rare.

3) the '69 is paid for!

My problem is I can not afford to own both.......

Which way would you all go?

Thanks for your ideas, and great site!

Paul

P.S. this is my current possession.....

keep your 69 and save for a '10. I've got a few 67 pontiacs and I would not sell them to get my '10 even tho I love having it. So just save so you can have both.

How bout i buy the 69 and you get a 2010, is it an auto or manual? I have a 68 that has been in my family since 68 and luckily is paid for, so it just a 2010 on order for me.

I love the new camaro, but If that car is #matching it might already be worth more.
More importantly, the 69's are the originals and they never get old. I speak for myself in saying ,I think 2010 owners love them do to your fine ride.

I WOULD THINK REAL HARD ABOUT THIS ONE!

In all seriousness if the 69 is paid for, why can't you own both. If its not fully restored why not just concentrate on making a payment for the 2010 and slowly fixing up the 69 everytime you got a little extra. I know that might be asking a lot in todays economy but the 69 wil never go down in value. My 68 is ss 396 all orignal, houdstooth, been painted once and reupholstered once. Now if stupid dad in the 70's didn't yank orignal engine out it would be numbers matching and extremely valuable but as is still very valuable.

Move on my man... Buy the 2010. Every good Salami comes to an end.

It's got the turbo 400 in it. I would have to sell it to raise the down payment for a new one. That is the problem (don't want a HUGE car payment!). Another part of the equation....I don't have garage space for two (the wife won't let me put her car outside, lol)

This one has new paint and fresh 396. I still need to replace the interior, it's supposed to be ivory houndstooth.

I'd keep the '69 and get a cheap daily driver. The '69s are pure classics and yours looks like it is in good shape.

keep the 69... You always hear more people regretting getting rid of an older car, than not getting a new one.

This coming from somebody that drives a civic. Listen to us old guys that have the classics. they will always be classics. 2010 will someday end up in the land fill or turned into a refrigerator.

The "daily driver" is not the problem. I have a GL1800 Goldwing that I ride if there's no snow or ice on the road and a Tacoma pickup to drive if there is. I know, too many toys! What I really need is a 5 car garage with a loft above it to live in

I don't really know. I have two standing offers for $20,000 for it and have turned them both down, repeatedly.
