So what makes these things happen?

First thing I'm curious about is the top fabric touching the rear well area when it's retracted - what makes this happen? After 8 months of not being anywhere near the rear well, it's finally started touching & wearing the fabric away.

I had a 12 that started rubbing on the back of the rear well on day 1 (almost). My 13 is nowhere near the back edge of the well. I assume that they changed something to make it sit differently.

Regarding yours as to why it didn't rub at first but now does, the cloth will stretch over time and relax a bit. It is possible that this slight stretching has now allowed it to rub.

What version top do you have? I had my original top replaced with one made after the redesign released on 6/27/2012. The newer tops have more chords that control the folding of the top when it goes down. It folds up more snug to the frame now and isn't anywhere near the the rear well. I have pics showing old vs. new here....http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248940

My complete frame/top was installed on 19 june. the dealer told me it was the new one that was coming out & that I got it before it hit the market.
Initially, it was about 1.5" away form the rear well.

Now I'm in another state - going to take it to the dealer this weekend.

I stopped by my dealership to pick up a part and the service manager came out to chat with me, asked about the car and how it was holding up. Apparently it is pretty common with the newer mechanisms to rub on the back? Greaaaat. Ours does rub but we've kept it from doing any real damage ..so far.

Well, this is my car, and it is fine. The tonneau was on and the girls don't weigh much at all. I was more worried about the stiletto heels on the seats and put a heavy blanket down to fix that.
