Alberta flooding

Catching up on the news after the movie tonight...crazy flooding everywhere in Alberta...
Downtown Calgary and transit expecting major disruptions tomorrow. All Calgary schools closed. Lots of highways closed due to washouts!
Entire towns/cities evacuated. Major flooding in High River (go figure), Canmore, Okotoks, etc etc...

Stay safe everyone!

Never in all my years have I seen something like this. I can't get to work downtown and just watching the news this morning. Can not believe how much flooding there is, so many areas affected, so many people....so insane!

It is a disaster out there. Saddle dome is reported to be flooded to the 14th row now...

I'm so happy I didn't try and go downtown today.

Downtown is now being evacuated. I have to run out, but I'm going 2 kms away and back.

There are just no words for this, it just keeps changing so fast. I have properties downtown affected, my office building has been targeted by thieves, we are locking it down now. There's so much good you see but there are always those that are just dickheads. I think the city needs more emergency responders to shut areas off that are unsafe.

Watching this on Global TV....absolutely stunning to see how much damage has occurred. I was living in Calgary during the 2005 flooding and I thought that was bad. But this makes that look like a drop in the hat. Stay safe everyone!!!

We helped by staying off the roads today. Can't believe all the people stopping along deerfoot to take pics at the weir....

Flood water moving south to medicine hat.

One of the worst things I've heard is that you can not buy insurance for overland flooding in Canada, which means home owners and business may not be covered. Devastating.

My brother called me from London England today as this has made international news.

Last two days have been an emotional roller coaster. My business is in Bowness on Main Street one block away from the Bow River.Evacuation Thursday and unable to open Friday and Saturday. Spent my Thursday night moving all my inventory as high as possible. Fearing flooding and sewer back up. The police came knocking at 10:30pm and said I had to go! I set the alarm and went home and watched the news. My stress level has been at redline for two days. My Lube shop means the world to me. I was able to go in this afternoon and assess the situation. As I came down the street all I saw was water and emergency personnel working their asses off. The water came a couple hundred feet away from my business. Absolute surreal feeling. My shop is ok thankfully but my heart goes out to those neighbours of mine who were flooded. I feel their pain.Seeing the reports on the news is one thing but actually being in the danger zone and being forced out and having to sweat it out for 48 hrs not knowing if you have anything to return to was a real tough deal. I lost a bit of business being closed but at least I still have a business to return to when it is safe to do so. The devastation is absolutely jaw dropping! We live to fight another day!!
