That stuff is for old carbon gunked up engines. Why would anyone consider it for a brand new car.

I only run it in my older vehicles but a lot of places are recommending it to try and counteract the ethanol additive.

I USE BG 44K AND ANY OF THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS AS THEY ARE ONE OF THE FEW ADDITIVES THAT ACTUALL WORK. I SPENT 35 YEARS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE AFTERMARKET...MOOG AUTOMOTIVE SALES AND TECH REP. THEY ARE NOT CHEAP BUT THEY DO WORK IMO.

Best way to clean is to remove the blower and carefully clean the rotors of the SC and soak the intercooler to get the oil varnish off. Here is a picture of the ZL1 at 16k miles using the RX catchcan system:

And a maggie intercooler at 15k miles w/out one:

I would not run an upper induction cleaner through the blower.....

How much deterioration in perfomance can be expected with the non use of a cc in those pics?Has anyone measured the difference? It obviously looks ugly without one.

There are several issues going on w/out a proper catchcan installed.

First is immediate. The oil ingestion into the intake air charge causes less usable octaine and detonation causing the PCM to pull timing so the engine is not running at optimine....that and oil dosent burn well so any contamination in the combustion chamber is going to effect energy released during combustion. Long term, this oil bakes onto the blower rotors throwing them off balance causing premature bearing wear (noise is what most first notice). Then the intercooler in the picture has probably lost 10% or more of its ability to transfer heat and the air flow through is becoming obstructed. This occurs gradually and steadily over time, but as you can see in 15k miles...thats not good.

Asl more questions.....keep a good discussion going here so more get educated on this.

When you say soak the intercooler, what do you suggest soaking it in exactly?
